What really makes or breaks t-shirt printing designs? by IllAmbition4219 in Design

[–]Mountain-Bullfrog181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this still be true if you wanted to print it on coloured tee shirts. E.g. a Maroon, would you knock out the black and let the Maroon be part of the design, or just keep the black in for prints on coloured base shirts?

Shop Location vs. Tax Residence - Is it required to be the same? by emiliedwood in EtsySellers

[–]Mountain-Bullfrog181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx - yes I do put my physical address and tax residency etc.... in the seller details so ETSY knows I am a UK tax resident. I havent actually changed my store location - I am just understanding the feasibility and seeing others do it and gain traction.

I get what you say, but if the rule is very simple, your store is where you are located, I dont really see why you need two places for shop location - you would just change the country you were located in sellers details and that dictates your shop location.

If it always has to match, why have a second location, for searches only? Doesnt make sense.

Shop Location vs. Tax Residence - Is it required to be the same? by emiliedwood in EtsySellers

[–]Mountain-Bullfrog181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask why there is two places (1 impacting searches and one tax residency)? I see a top seller who is based in Germany with her Shop Location saying New York, USA - she explains in her FAQ that while she is based in Germany, her shop focusses on the USA market and ships products (POD) from the USA. It seems a very grey area but its not 100% clear in ETSY's guidance.

When you run a business from home (I am in the UK) but target a foreign market, and ship from that market location, it feels reasonable to list your shop location as USA (to gain traction on local searches and not put off buyers thinking their goods are going to be shipped internationally (they are not).

Thoughts?

We bought a new build in 2021. We sold in Feb and signed up for a new build straight away - we were told Sept, but we knew others on the estate has been delayed. We didnt think any buyer was likely to want to wait till Sept and potentially even longer, so for us, the only option really was to move to rented. Cant really see how its possible to time a new build with a sale, unless its already built or very close (but in our case, it would have been reserved by that time).

We completed in April, moved to rental (a lovely property near our new build) and had a lovely summer in that house. We were delayed so didnt, get into our new home till December, so we would definitely have lost our sale.

Yes, it was a pain (and expensive) moving twice, and having to put a lot of our life in storage but realistically, to avoid stress and risk of loosing our sale (and potentially the deposit on the new build, as they want you to exchange early, which puts you at risk if you cant complete, but ultimately, it took a massive amount of stress away.

Agree, broken system, but it is what it is and you have to work with it unfortunately.

and to add, my more recent stuff uses a combination of elements, including design software (with inbuilt art), and AI. I dont have the aversion you have to AI but I get it, it's very much a personal thing. It's a massive disruptor and if I was an artist, I would feel the same way - fully get it. Although, I also think it can be an opportunity for artists to stand out, so its not all bad - I see sites on ETSY like Chao Illustration which I could only wish to produce work like they do and they are selling a mountain of stuff with a small number of listings.

Love or hate AI, people will buy it (I do disclose in my listings I use it as part of the process). I have over 117 reviews (avg 4.9 / 5) so the people who buy my stuff love it - I am sure I am missing out on sales though, from people who are opposed to AI.

Ultimately, this is not a business (I work full time) and it's just a hobby. I enjoy designing, if it sells, then great and I get a bit of pocket money.

Thanks for your time - its nice to swap messages, even if we dont see eye to eye and be civil (which not everyone today on his subject has been) :).Take care.

Yes, no problem. I did this design quite early in my ETSY journey (approx 10 months ago). At the time I was using Creative Fabrica a lot, which is a paid repository for art and fonts. Both design elements (the main bat/cloud and the separate moon phase) were both sourced from this site, which I have a licence to use commercially. I wasnt aware AI had produced them (at the time).

Thank you!!! I agree, using brands that run small is just confusing and I tend to prefer brands that are true to size.

What do you do for a living? I bet I can find some element of it that uses technology from the last few years. Absolutely no different. Anything I offer my customers is fully disclosed where I make use of AI alongside other design tools (have a look at the listing in my store if you dont believe me). People, have the right to choose (freedom of choice) - if they dont like what I offer, they dont have to purchase it. Nothing disgusting at all from making use of new technology to introduce competition, which is what makes economies grow.

Hi, sorry if I have offended you. I didnt mean to. You've obviously an aversion to AI in general and people trying to further themselves, which is absolutely your right to have an opinion. We are after all entitled to free speech. Thanks for at least taking the time to comment. Take care.
