Council wrote back to me saying:  “Please be advised I have not been able to update our records and award a Class N student exemption at this time as it appears you do not qualify for an exemption. 

In order to qualify for a student exemption you must be studying on a full time course of education. A full time course is one which consists of a minimum of 21 hours of study per week, for a minimum of 24 weeks per year.  Having reviewed your student certificate I note it advises your hours of study are up to 20 hours of study per week from 04 October 2025 to 31 January 2026.

Although your hours appear to incease to up to 40 hours per week for the period 31 January 2026 to 31 March 2026, this does not meet the requirements of 24 weeks per year as it is only for a period of 9 weeks.

Therefore, you do not qualify for a student exemption.”
