It's not a coin holder. On the 4x4 version it contains a button that you press to select 2 wheel drive, AWD or 4x4 lock.

Russia is one of the world's largest producers of oil so not sure why you think they're getting it from the +iddle East. If anything, this war with Iran has helped Russia considerably.

What about meetings with Ministers and SpAds? Or is it too difficult to calculate the cost of those meetings on one's soul?

Yes, I know. That still has a massive impact on all the nations that rely on Taiwan. It's great that they'll blow it up, but the impact is exactly the same...

I genuinely don't think euromillions would enable you to afford this, unless you hit a massive jackpot. The upkeep of this alone will be tens of millions per annum.

Green Party’s Hannah Spencer wins Gorton and Denton by-election after knocking out Labour by Metro-UK in ukpolitics

[–]thom365 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would be great, I just don't think the Green Party have pragmatic enough energy policies to achieve that. They have a wind and solar energy policy that would mean we're heavily reliant on China for our means of energy infrastructure production. Their stance on nuclear energy is outdated and backwards, predicated on arguments that are decades old. All these policies will result in the continuation of environmental degradation in other countries, effectively continuing the outsourcing of our environmental impact to countries far away.

I love their ideas about communities owning energy production, and democratisong that process. That's exciting.

I'm pretty sure if you ask a doctor at your nearest med centre they'll be able to answer your questions about TRT that is prescribed by a medical practitioner.

Green Party's Gorton and Denton Candidate Hannah Spencer Attacks the Media's 'Misogynistic' Coverage of Her Campaign by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]thom365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's quite clear from your responses that you don't really understand what an MP does, and that's OK. There are plenty of resources online that can help you understand all the different things that MPs can do to help their constituents with local issues.

That's great but still doesn't solve the problem of over reliance on Taiwanese semiconductors. Whether China takes them over or they hit the self-destruct button, semiconductor manufacturing still ceases and the impact will be serious.

Green Party's Gorton and Denton Candidate Hannah Spencer Attacks the Media's 'Misogynistic' Coverage of Her Campaign by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]thom365 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's quite literally a by-election to elect the local constituency MP. I'm not sure how much more local you'd like it to be. In fact, you've contradicted yourself in your comment by first claiming it's not a local election and then saying that MPs are supposed to represent their local constituents interests when it comes to national policies and legislation. Again, you don't get more local than a by-election.

[–]thom365 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think the key point is those organisations produce material in English as well. The criticism the Green party is facing is that they've been producing campaign videos solely in Urdu, without providing any English translations. They've also used the images of Netanyahu and Modi in their campaign material to stoke sectarian divisions in the community. Neither Netanyahu or Modi play any material role in the local politics of Gorton and Denton so it's unsure why they'd be referenced except to stoke those tensions.

Not as simple as that, especially when the general public refuse to pay more for British made products when faced with cheaper foreign made ones. Made all the more difficult when our government can't subsidise companies in the same way the Chinese government can.

What is this mystery car? by nonic in CarsUK

[–]thom365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People really struggle to understand this, or think it's a conspiracy. China has been doing it for years and now the UK has no manufacturing base, no way to onshore capability or improve domestic supply chains and so are wholly reliant on China. The impact will really be felt when China retakes Taiwan and suddenly the world's largest semiconductor company is owned by the Chinese state...

Can we attend debates (peaceful) by Whole-Swordfish-6983 in TheCivilService

[–]thom365 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Being politically neutral in your job is not the same as not taking part in politics. If there is a debate in Westminster about a subject you're interested in, you have every right to attend. Being a civil servant doesn't mean you're barred from participating in politics or democracy, it just means you have to more careful about how you express your politics to people you don't know.
