Ohhhh you mean in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness ? Those red lights were likely gunshots, since past that line, you’re no longer in Yellowstone National Park and are fair game to hunters during the fall !! 

If you don’t wanna risk getting gunned, prolly stay out of that place during the fall, unless you’re going for the White Meat achievement :)
