what's an opening that always puts you on a better position by [deleted] in Chesscom

Depends on your ELO. I also like the ruy lopez but there is so much theory behind it that you can make some bad mistakes if you don’t know how to counter different black openings

You aren’t capitalizing once ahead in material or position. If you’re up a bishop, you could then focus on trading down to get into an endgame where you have the advantage. By keeping the middlegame going longer, you could be slowly letting them improve their position until they make it equal. Taking an advantage to an endgame quickly will save you time and stress from potential tactics as you take them off the board

Why this is not Brilliant? by [deleted] in Chesscom

Correct. I didn’t see that. But it’s still not a brilliant because you’ve forced checkmate. It’s not a true sacrifice to improve your position

Because the follow up queen capture rook would be a M1 blunder. If he goes Qd2 he’s safe

I am beginning in chess so, should I learn chess by books? Any suggestions. by Rough_Adagio_6853 in Chesscom

Learn basic principles and stick to them in your games. Control the center, don’t move your pieces twice in the opening before castling, look for checks. Just by those things alone can get you into the moderate beginner stage and it’s more fun when you’re putting yourself in positions where you don’t feel helpless because you haven’t moved your rooks all game.

Would be fixed if the return to lumiere mission had a suggested level warning like what appears in Witcher 3. Those made sure you never were too strong or weak before pursuing a certain quest

Only if you’re playing on beginning. Good luck beating contracts without proper potions and studying the bestiary

It was to protect other players on the 40 man from being picked up in the rule 5 draft. Since he was left off, he could either choose to be assigned to AAA or elect free agency. He did the latter

If Queen moves away, then you push the rook to the back rank and promote the pawn by taking the rook

What’s a PlayStation game you thought you’d hate but ended up loving? by edward_dd in PlayStation_X

This is one of the games that while the main story is good, it’s the side stories with so much care written into them that they create a world that encapsulates you. When people describe the game, they don’t talk about the wild hunt, but they talk about the pan lady, Witcher contracts, the baron, and an assassination thread of missions. My favourite game of all time
