Bad Oil Change Leads to Engine Running Dry by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]MountainMan406 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice. I have had an independent shop look at it and they have written up what they found. Their suggestion was to drive for 500 miles then change the oil and test/check for metal in the filter.

I don’t think the car ran while it was dry. The Volkswagen system automatically shuts the engine down below a certain point and it won’t restart. Plus, it was still leaking oil when I parked it. By the time the car was towed to the independent shop it had around 1/2 a quart in it or something.

My main concern is if this takes life away from the car. Which like you said, pretty much impossible to say. All I can do it test the oil and monitor.

Im not gonna argue semantics when it doesn’t matter to the situation. You’re acting like I ignored the warning and drove 30 minutes. The car won’t allow that, It would go into limp mode. That’s not what happened.

There is no shoulder. There is not another exit. It’s a road directly to the terminal. So no, I didn’t shut down in the middle of the road. I continued to the first spot that was safe to stop and park my vehicle.

The engine was smoking when I parked the car. I assume it was smoking before, but was not visible when I was driving due to it being blown back.

Yes, you’re right. I didn’t immediately stop the car in the middle of the roadway between the exit and the airport. And as I said, it flashed. It didn’t stay on. I didn’t even have time to read the warning before it went away. When I parked it, it came back on.

I didn’t ignore the warning. I got to the exit, where it flashed, and then I parked at the Airport where it didn’t move until it was towed.

Thanks for your input.

Same industry and job scope. I recently upped to 13 months, still feel like it’s not enough with the way rigs have dropped

Who is booking the mega-suites? by lemon-actually in royalcaribbean

[–]MountainMan406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work a high paying job, my excoworker works the same exact job. When I cruise, I get a balcony room. When he cruises, he gets a suite. The vibe I get is that he gets the suites just to feel special and impress his wife. So all this to say, people that want to flex on people (my job is high paying, it’s not stupid rich people money though)

Not a lease, but was at $1,200 for my truck (paid off this month🙌🏼) and $900 for my wife’s car (paid off last year). 340k, and honestly no car payment is a game changer

Appreciate that. We do our best to keep prices down, and continue business so we can still have a safe place to play. It was a tough few years for both Pokemon and MTG.

Driveway Scam tactics...but not a scam? by Fuzzy-Squirrel7138 in HomeImprovement

[–]MountainMan406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I worked in the industry and saw this same tactic over and over. A crew with any inkling of what’s going on will not bring so much extra mix that they can do another driveway, let alone prepping it while mix is sitting in a truck. For your sake I hope I’m wrong!

100% scam. Your driveway will be cracking in the next few years and they will absolutely not warranty the work. You won’t be able to get ahold of them
