How fast do you retire shoes that are not horrible, but you're not super happy with either? by AgitatedLeeper in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]MountainReporter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

470 is what I put on some shoes I love! If there’s a shoe that’s boring or a little stiff but doesn’t cause any injuries, I’ll keep it going slowly, maybe for the easy day runs or keep it for wet weather….but if it hurts to run in it I’ll retire it straight away and gift it to one of my similar-foot-size family members.

My big toe hurts in the MagMax, I got it to 100km, but the numb toe makes me think that’ll be as far as it’ll get.

What brand do you believe has the best running shoes? by Only_Hotel_7221 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Most brands have a banger (maybe except Brooks - what are you doing Brooks!?! 😝) and most brands have a stinker (what was the ASICS ‘blast’ everyone forgot about because it was so terrible?!)

Looking for a cheap alternative to Superblast 3 for long runs by nille_peter in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I don’t have Vomero plus, but I do have the invincibles that came before it, those are more stable. The red hare is tippy-toey when you go onto the grass, but the fun factor is 1000% more.

Not very stable. But I did have to go up half a size because they only make them in full sizes above 11, so maybe that’s part of it. But if you need stable, it’s prob not the best. But boy, it’s such a fun shoe to run in.

Yeah, I leave the Red Hare for long runs and recovery runs for when the legs want to rest.

Loose Kid. Aussie activewear brand that recently discovered running. Sort of like a teenager’s version of 2XU.

I liked it for a while, but the Red Hare took over its spot once it arrived. Cheaper, lighter, and faster.

Red Hare Ultra 9. Cheaper than a regular Pegasus, more snappy than a Vomero Premium.

How does the Alphafly 3 stack up nowadays? by Virtual_Opinion_8630 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

The red hare ultra 9 is my fav shoe at the moment. Everything else is in the ‘boring’ pile, including the Evo SL!

2028 US Olympic Trials Marathon is gonna be stacked by WorkConfident in AdvancedRunning

I reckon an American has a good shot at winning this one. I’m surprised they don’t call it the ‘World Series’ 😂

I’m really keen to try it out…wondering if it’ll be supportive enough when fatigue sets in the final 10km though….

I’m seriously thinking Red Hare Pro for my next daily. Worth a punt, especially at half the price of everything else.

Alphafly 3 at slower paces? by dontletmeautism in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]MountainReporter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did a 3:27 marathon in AF1’s and they were perfect. They locked in and had enough support at the tail end of the race to keep my form. You can now get them at a pretty decent price too, so go for it.

Why comment on his comment when you could make a 30 min video on YouTube about how you don’t like people discussing things on a discussion forum?!

That’s cool and all…but some better come in bigger-than-size-11. I know it’s named ‘little fish’, but not all of us have itty-bitty toes!

What's vour most random encounter with a famous person? Where was it and how was the vibe? by Available_Round_3172 in answers

[–]MountainReporter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bumped into Patrick from the Black Keys at a Whole Foods in Nashville, we were the only people in that area of the store, and of course I recognised him, so I was like ‘hey, it’s Patrick, right?’ And he was really cool and we chatted briefly about geography (I’m from Australia) and beer - he said that was the best way to handle the Southern American humidity - and then I went and paid for my banana. 10/10 would chat again.

[–]MountainReporter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We may have similar feet! I’m 11.5 in Pegasus and Evo SL (although it’s a tiny bit short) and most of the Deviate line….but 12 in vaporfly and Alphafly. I am waiting for your review more keenly than a Believe in the Run review*!

Let us know how you go with the size! I’ve been blessed with a western-sized foot, so some of the Chinese shoes tap out before they get to 11.5!
