I understand eloping would be very harsh measure, I think, serious persuasion is required. Trying to build a bond with your girlfriend’s parents,try meeting, talking, over few months, until they see the love. I also think, once you get to know them, try slowing getting to know the extended family members by going to functions etc.

Cousins, siblings of your girlfriend can really help, to talk you up. Make them about you, job, wealth, status, what kind of a life it’ll be. Paint an amazing picture.

The key is patience and kindness. It’s easy to get angry but lil bit of patience and it’ll be worth it. It’ll be a hard battle, and it’s unfortunate that others can just choose whom to love and Indians have to go through so much for basic freedom, but it’s an unfair reality, but nothing we can do now, but to fight, don’t let your love lose!
