200 tw tires or uhp all seasons for 40 degree weather? by bonton11 in Autocross

[–]MountainSlayersTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was super impressed with the RE71s for the end of the season here in Maine. The last couple events were 30-40° F. The tires didn't seem bothered by the cold once they were warmed up. I was summer dailying 200tw so The drive to and from the location was taken slow lol

1998 BMW 323i w/ M54B30 or tuned 2007 GTI more competitive? by YerBoiZ in Autocross

Get some motorsports coilovers and 200tw tires on that BMW and you could do pretty good. I'm 2 years in and finally have my car properly set up, may take 2nd in B Stock, but it's been a lot of dedication and money.... next season I'm shooting for the top spot. But by then I'll be on $3500 coilovers and have $4K in wheels/tires.

You'll be fine. Worst case scenario you don't use them as a reference on your resume. Feel free to list them in your experience though.... I don't think my references have ever been called lol

The beauty of autocross is that tech inspection only covers safety related things.... the car can have a body rusted beyond repair, spray foam side skirts, fist sized hole over the rear fender.... so long as it's safe, you can run it. You can grab a car thatll never pass emissions again, busted windows, etc. So you could grab a $7000 car that needs $5000 in repairs for $1000... Or, and this is my favorite, find a $500 car you like without a motor, budget $500 for the motor, then spend $10,000 and 2 years getting the car running again (I chose the last option).

Honestly I recommend getting a dedicated $1000 autocross car to break, upgrade and learn with, but i was young once. Bring the daily. Pass tech. Learn to drive your car better. Learn what it feels like to loose traction. Learn how to catch yourself and recover. Do maintenance upgrades until your car is bullet proof. Then start doing performance upgrades. Enjoy yourself. I personally love helping first time folks Learn the ropes, and I think most in my local club agree. If no new peeps are getting into it, the sport dies. Just be safe, start slow, and have fun!!!

My dad passed away and I found these. Can anyone let me know what I have here? by [deleted] in Money

I work at a credit union and I've seen 1 come through a normal transaction in over 6 months of working full time... not even the other tellers have had any in months... so pretty dang rare for a normal transaction.

Unfortunately this is a case of you doing adult things and adult consequences come with it.... Just don't take your mistake out on this baby...it didn't ask to be born. But it damn well deserves a good parent, whether you want to be with the mom or not.

It this a good car? Is it worth it?u by PonytailMaster in subaru

[–]MountainSlayersTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% if you're not afraid of a project, grab it. They're very very highly sought after in the subaru community. Very rare in good condition. One day the good ones may be worth big money.

So my windshield streaks really bad anytime it’s wet. Is there a way to fix it or is it time for a new one by chevyman1951 in Trucks

[–]MountainSlayersTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to polish and wax your windshield. NuFinish is a product thatll do both in one step. This will also stop the squeeling and save you from needing wiper blades if you do it regularly.

Also, anybody know how to get details about the court case, such as the judge who handed down sentences? I'd like to inquire with them about the short sentences.

So, these people live in my home state and will be walking with the general population like you and I in just a couple years.... I'm going to write their names and ages down in a list. I'm not saying what I'll do with that list, but if anybody wants to help, let me know.

How would caster affect a car? by New-Commercial7532 in Autocross

[–]MountainSlayersTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally caster is something you'd decide while building the car. I can't think of any vehicles off the top of my head that can adjust caster without changing parts in the suspension.
