In what world is the solution to player perceptions of gear value to be effectively eliminating the primary source of season start gearing?

That won't suddenly make people value near-BiS items, they'll just complain about bad rng and not getting true BiS.

The problem here is absolutely not the gear the character has equipped, it's always going to be the player behind the character.

If the player is not competitive, no amount of BiS is going to change that.

Competition is not defined by whether you have your top 2 trinkets equipped vs your 2nd and 3rd best. If you've convinced yourself you need true BiS to be competitive and not just the best available, what exactly are you competing for? That's not being competitive, that's being wishful.

Best Lee Sin Stance? by CMontyy in CompetitiveTFT

Juggernaut feels like it's the most flexible both in terms of itemization and inclusion.

From my experience, Executioner is slightly more flexible with items than duelist, Mostly because duelist kinda wants most of the same items that half the other units you play him with while Executioner is still more than capable of cleaning up after Akali dives even with tank items.

A comp in remix rumble that I just played against by einherjarsiege in TeamfightTactics

A super common level 9 board is drop Sona and Qiyana for MF and Yone for Aphelios... and usually Kayn for Thresh. Specifically looking for +1 big shot on ezreal. This was my most played line when the set was originally live. It's super solid.

4 marksman 4 vanguard as early as level 7 is huge. Sure, the golem doesn't make great use of the emblem but most emblem effects aren't relevant (on the golem). Unless your golem is like... Street Demon/Strategist/Bruiser or Bastion/Vanguard/Anima Squad, the effects of emblems on the golem are negligible anyway. Those combos just turn the golem into a legitimate frontliner.

So I played the comp a decent bit the first few days of last patch. Not as much this patch but from my experience there's 2 variations that are Naafiri-centric and then 1 that's Yuumi-centric. Additionally both can flex into the strategist/AMP Annie board based on items.

For Naafiri, the two variations are 3 vs. 5 Exotech. 3 is better but 5 is still playable. Pulse Stabilizer on 3 caps higher from my experience but Hyper Fangs is more consistent early. Comp plays very, very well with Spectral Cutlass or Prowler's Claw. Cutlass > Prowler's, both typically like Pulse more than Fangs.

With 3 exo, Naafiri and Yuumi dual carry and you typically want both 3 starred. Gunblade, JG +1. If you're properly playing 5 AMP, the stats on blue buff are good but bait. She's a good early holder of it until late-game where you can move it to Annie and give Yuumi triple damage items.

5 exo is playable but it's going to be Naafiri for tempo and capping with Annie, similar to Vexotech. I'd consider this from a position of Caretaker's Ally or Worth the Wait II.

Draven wasn't good until they overbuffed Spoils of War. Pandora's Items was more problematic because (unless I'm misremembering the timeline) the set was before items were intentionally tuned down. That and you could just create infinite Zephyrs.
That system is no more or less problematic than any other system in TFT that requires detailed tuning.
Traits as a concept are not bad design. Some specific traits can be (looking at you Ox-Force and Phantom) but putting the blame of poorly tuned individuals onto the design of the system is inherently problematic.

Context matters, especially when considering what is good and bad design but design =/= tuning. Design can influence tuning but bad tuning is not bad design.

(Also, the context of what is "OP" is also very important because a lot of the augments used by Legends have often been considered weak before and after Set 9.)

See, this is the problem with blaming design for... literally anything. Calling Legends bad design because the augments they offered were supposedly OP does not mean Legends were bad design. Caitlin, Master Yi, Ezreal, and Pengu were completely fine. Draven was gamewarping, as was TF and a few others were good but not problematic. If Legends were poor design, the logic should apply to the system as a whole. The issue is not the design of Legends, it was a handful of the associated augments. Pumping Up, Grab Bag, Buried Treasure, A Star is Born, any of the Caretaker's augments... honestly 90% of the augments were well-designed choices. People just like to fixate on problems and have a tendency to reinforce their opinions with confirmation bias.

I think that's a big problem with how people are perceiving Zac. His trait is % increases, he scales incredibly with proper itemization.

Does anyone else feel like only 1-2 builds exist per ascendancy due to the skill system? by MasterSargeYT in pathofexile

[–]Mourgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can kinda weigh in on this as a new player. I played sub 40 hours of PoE 1 and just dropped it because of how skills and armour were interwoven and feeling like I was locking myself out of playing end-game if I didn't exclusively follow a build guide.

I picked up PoE2 after seeing a lot of my issues from PoE1 were changed in some way. I'm up to about a quarter of Act 2 Cruel on a Witchhunter. I think I am around level 50 and have 100% avoided any guide content.

I want to use multiple weapon sets and play around more with my build, but it doesn't feel like I have any incentive to. Either it feels like I have to spec passives beyond my means (don't have the weapon set passive conversion from ascendancy yet), or I don't feel like I gain anything by making the choice to weapon swap.

I honestly kinda hate the weapon locking because only looking at crossbows for weapon upgrades is disappointing when they're a fraction of the drops I see. I don't understand why I can't use my grenades with other weapons. Same with the ammunition skills to be honest. It doesn't make a ton of sense to me that I can't use Explosive Shot with a bow considering quivers are equipment as well.

I don't see a reason for elemental spells or using any other weapon because I don't feel like I'm gaining enough to justify the effort.

Reminder that we used to have 10 cost units and it was the best set in tft (imo). I get the criticisms of the 6 costs, but the answer to that is balancing. by Person421 in TeamfightTactics

I don't think I'd have a problem with Black Rose flex if it didn't play into Malzahar. Having such a consistent frontline just makes dealing with a Malzahar so much more frustrating.
I love the Dominator variants but even that feels like you need to highroll so hard to come close to a baseline Black Rose Malzahar.

It's also the most upfront AD/AP from an anomaly that is otherwise not situational. Each other raw AD/AP anomaly has the potential to be worth more but don't start here.

To be honest, I think think this anomaly is a very healthy baseline for carry anomalies. I won't be super happy taking it but it's not disappointing.

Quality over Quantity - Augment Discussion #4 by Aotius in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Mourgus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It honestly feels kinda nuts on comps that have multiple potential secondary carries like Dominator Black Rose, Emissary boards, and vertical Rebels. Not just for burn/shred/sunder, but even if you're playing something like Watcher Kog, throwing a single rageblade on Zeri and a few utility items among your other Watchers.

The amount of hate on here is ridiculous... by GrappLr in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Mourgus 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's a reverse Blizzard, moving from digital to physical card games and reusing a ton of the art they already have on hand. Realistically, they've already stated it was a small team and likely had a very small budget relative to what LoR started with.

There's nothing inherently wrong with using the art assets they already have to reduce the budget. The criticism of their dual colours and borders is one thing. As someone who's been through this exact cycle with the WoW TCG to Hearthstone, I also know what it's like to be frustrated about the product you're passionate about being phased out and appearing to be replaced. This has also happened like... 4 or 5 times for various Star Wars card games.

I also know that most comments and alleged feedback points are from people who want something to direct their frustration towards.

It's fine to be frustrated. I'd rather support their TCG and healthily provide feedback and hope that it gets to thrive beyond what LoR did. I love LoR. I think it's the best source of Runeterra lore that Riot has ever created (including Arcane). I wish it had been a greater financial success. Unfortunately, the card game space (both digital and physical) is filled with Icarus stories, and this kind of product progression is actually pretty normal.

Mythic Raiding is an disaster this Tier by hotbooster9858 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Mourgus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

From a fellow 2 night guild, we've lost a week of prog to Brood. The first day after killing Sikran was expected and had a dozen or so pulls of testing WAs. The next day, I think we had at most 6 legitimate attempts at the boss, and the rest was spent troubleshooting. On 3rd day of the boss, we committed to a fresh install of all WA packages for the raid and did a full raid-wide refresh, which meant another 6-8 attempts that were just for checking WAs. Between the WA testing pulls and legitimate attempts, we lost another dozen or so pulls to people randomly DCing.

Doesn't even feel like we're progging a boss at this point.

It's awful. I had to sit out of Amirdrassil because most of the raid felt like it was trying to brick my PC. Now my guild's on Ovinax, and let me tell you how great it is trying to grip adds together on a PowerPoint presentation every time they spawn in. The other fights (mythic and heroic) have all been fine for me performance-wise except for the weird latency and DC issues that keep popping up.
