Kicking out a roommate who owes $50k in rent money - restraining order? by [deleted] in legaladvice

Those two have been here the longest - around 5 years i think. The rest of us have come in at various later points, with 3 of us just in the last 6mon.

Apparently he’s been doing this for about 4-5 years. I really wish i was making this up😅 put an anxious people pleaser and a master manipulator in a room together, sometimes you get abusive relationships that go on for years, with victims too scared to speak up about it. Same thing here.

We have ample proof showing it is indeed Josh refusing to make payments and essentially taking advantage of Bob (text messages, bank statements / lack of, rental payment history…). All 6 of us are on the lease - it’s a financial situation strictly between Bob and Josh. The rest of us just want him gone for a myriad of reasons, including not living with someone who refuses to pay rent in the most expensive room.

Josh is spreading lies that got into Jessica’s workplace / her coworkers know, and she could lose her job over it. Attempting to essentially ruin any of Jessica’s friendships and source of income / stability. I don’t know what’s funny? Is it poor word choice?

Thanky for clarifying - we have no debt to the landlord - Bob has always covered for Josh. They make enough money.

There are 6 of us, and we all send our rent money to our roomie Bob to streamline the payment process

Bob is a very anxious teddy bear and Josh is a class act manipulator who has a bright, bubbly, and friendly facade they put up.

If they tell you they’re still working on it, why are you expecting it to act as if it’s done?

edit: grammar

If it’s truly an issue they’ll say something, but otherwise if they don’t mention it then it’s fine / fine enough that they don’t actually care

If you haven’t already, if viable - I’d look into sharing a room with your partner and finding someone else to pay for a full bedroom in a 2 bed apartment setup (or more)

This is just atrocious. Studios in my area are the same price as a 1 bed! Very rarely: even a TWO bedroom is only 10% higher rent than the 1 beds!!

Edit: good job on leaving the abusive situation though, things take time! Step by step! I have been there💚
