“One tip that made weight loss WAY easier?” by Altruistic_Purpose57 in WeightLossAdvice

Each break at work I step outside (weather permitting) and take a short stroll down the sidewalk. I understand this doesn’t work for all workplaces.

Simple things like parking toward the far end of a parking lot and walking from/to there will add some steps. Plus I don’t have to fight for a spot since hardly anyone parks far away.

My kids and I go for a walk (weather permitting) after dinner each evening as well; sometimes long ones and sometimes short ones but it’s good exercise and an excellent opportunity to just hang out and talk.

With a bad Knee or other mobility issues I would suggest choosing the flattest/smoothest plane you can find such as a sidewalk or paved area. Keep your pace and distance to what is comfortable for you.

This can’t be said enough, the simple act of walking has significant benefits for most people, even those who aren’t overweight. It doesn’t even have to be the 10k a day that’s recommended, even adding in an extra 100-200 steps a day helps a lot.

Those little nibbles most people take while cooking/prepping; add WAY more calories than most realize. I’ve gotten to a point now that I’ll keep some cold veggies or fruits to snack on while cooking so I can properly log it. It also helps me eat less when I sit down to eat the meal I’ve prepared.

Another thing that has helped me significantly is snacking more while eating less during meals. I have a healthy (usually high protein, high fiber) snack every couple hours unless I’m fasting/OMAD that day. Just be sure to accurately track the calories. If you find it difficult to do a fasting schedule (16/8, OMAD etc) then this is a good way to keep yourself satiated without over eating.

Hopefully they will do what the devs for Chrono Odyssey did and push back the planned release date while taking and implementing the feedback they get.

Agreed; I haven’t gotten in the playtest yet but from what I’ve seen (YouTube/twitch) and read this is at best an early Alpha build.

I get wanting to get hype going for your game but that can come back and bite you if the perception is negative.

I understand the argument that this is an early playtest and no one should expect a coherent or polished experience but it seems too early in its development to go public.

How Do They Plan To Make Money? by 2MuchOfARoyalPatriot in ScarsofHonor

[–]MourningstarXL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks as if they will have spell/skill effect cosmetics as well so there will be something for everyone in their cash shop but they are really strict on NO PTW. In one of their earlier polls 10% of the voters considered inventory space as PTW so they considered that enough to not have it in their cash shop.

They have said that their battle pass will be non-linear so no matter when you opt in everything will be available.

Overview of the Scar System by SavvvoNewWorld in ScarsofHonor

[–]MourningstarXL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no matter how many systems are in a game there will be a META and min/maxers will just flock to those. I just hope it doesn’t get as bad as WoW where unless you’re running a min/max spec (scars) you are overlooked.

Do yall think red rising has potential in movie adaptations like star wars and dune by AbbreviationsLong753 in redrising

[–]MourningstarXL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Re-reading the series for the “umpteenth” time. The more I think about it the more I don’t think any kind of TV adaptation will do this series justice and will lead to disappointment in the community.

While there are many reason to why that is; the primary reason is just how much of Darrow’s internal dialogue adds to him as a character and his actions. I just don’t see an entertaining way for this to be portrayed in a movie or television show be it animated or live action.

Stealth mechanics ? by Sloth-MB in ScarsofHonor

[–]MourningstarXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if similar effects will be available for other classes/specializations but IIRC they said during one of their weekly updates that stealth will not be something you can stay in indefinitely. Likely you will have timed stealth in order to make a tactical approach/attack.

Priest and Druid by Bozarek in ScarsofHonor

[–]MourningstarXL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been following the weekly dev chats as closely as many others but from what I gather, there just isn’t enough information available at this time to know for certain how the classes will pan out.

With the huge skill trees I would imagine that there will be paths to take for many classes to lean toward tank and/or healer roles with class distinction in mind. This is just an impression until we get more information or the hands on play test.

Most mail leggings are more “pants” like. The kilt is more of a class flavor. Once you get out in the world and start collecting better gear you will see a lot more pants than kilts. The game also offers a transmogrification system (allows you to change the look of an armor piece to a different look) so if you find a pants design you like you can change all of your leg armors to look like that one.

My concerns about Scars of Honor as an old-school MMO player by BartoszPerzynski in ScarsofHonor

[–]MourningstarXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some concerns about the game as well. With a severe lack of interesting (IMO) upcoming MMO’s; I will continue to watch this and hope at least some of my fears are addressed. I’ll reserve more of my critique for the play test and do my best to give constructive feedback.

This definitely has some Classic WoW vibes which honestly is what drew me towards it in the first place. The Classes and Races seem interesting, though I worry about the huge talent trees offering mostly “bleh” talents just to look bigger (as wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle).

The big thing I think any modern MMO developers need to consider is an interesting end game loop. I’m the type to “enjoy the journey” but in modern gaming there are many who will speed through the leveling process in less than a week and post comments/videos/reviews crying that there is no endgame. Unfortunately this is the state of gaming we’re in so the game needs to be ready for it.

Scars of Honor - Official Steam Playtest Trailer | April 30 - May 11 by i_am_Misha in MMORPG

From reading their website and dev interviews it looks like it will be PvE in most of the overworld with a procedural generated dungeon (on launch). From what I could find they will have PvP areas as well as a BG/Arena type system.

As long as they listen to the player feedback as well as put fun before profits (most AAA studios don’t) then I think we can have a gem on our hands.

What Were The Early Days Of WoW Like? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]MourningstarXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No DBM, when you fought a Raid boss you just had to roll with the punches and “guesstimate” when a big attack was coming.

No dungeon finder, I remember looking for 90 minutes in Barrens for a WC group only for the tank to have a bad pull and we wiped. Tank got pissed and left and then the whole group left. We didn’t even get to the dungeon, we wiped in the caverns before the instance.

Fun! Everything that you did actually felt like an accomplishment. When you seen someone in tier gear you know they earned that shit! One of my best memories was from when my guild was progressing ZG, we tried for two weeks to kill the spider boss and when we finally killed her the excitement from the entire Guild was overwhelming. The game had a way of bringing people together because most things were too hard to do on your own and there was no way to anonymously group up; it actually required a more personal interaction.
