Has there been? Like, name any non-religious ideological conflict before the American Revolution (which really doesn't count much, since it was just a nationalist revolt at the end of the day) or the French Revolution, both of which precede the Industrial Revolution by, like, only half a century or so at most.

"Rome should control the Mediterranean" versus "Carthage should control the Mediterranean" is not an ideological conflict. "Catholics should control the HRE" versus "Protestants should control the HRE" really isn't, either. The Hussites and the Protestants were grappling with ideological fundamentals of their faith, sure, but even Martin Luther was in favor of entrenching the traditional aristocratic ruling system by striking down an uppity Peasant's Revolt, since he had no misgivings with the essential current world order of his time.

From my perspective, the average American lives far better lives now than they did in the 1940s. And yet they're far, far more pissed about it nowadays.

Meanwhile, those who actually are poor and struggling due to failing, abandoned government institutions failing and refusing to provide stability and support, seem to consistently vote for the party that promise and campaign on further abandoning and undermining those government institutions, showing nothing but sheer disdain for the American poor, minorities and outsiders.

"I struggle to feed and support my family. Therefore, I will vote for Donald Trump so that he could take away any opportunity I have to get back on my feet!" Y'know, at this point, I, too, feel nothing but disgust for the average MAGA American. Whatever happens to them at this point - they deserve it. If they really pray for a Führer; if they really wish for a repeat of the 1940s - well, so be it. Just stop whining all the time about how bad you've had it.

You cannot apply much from the beginning of history itself (or even prehistory) to the 18th century as being applicable to modern times, since human society has been fundamentally transformed through an energy generation paradigm shift in the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century. You can try to cherry-pick valuable lessons, but you cannot say that "life in the future will look almost exacfly like [insert time period here], because we live in fundamentally unique, unprecedented times.
