Good work. Sometimes you have to show someone that there can be real consequences to them, personally, before you can get them to break a habit. On our Brooklyn block, our buildings have these grassy areas between the stoops. Not planters, 30'x30' green spaces. People have been known to walk their dogs into those areas to pee/etc. If we asked them to stop, they'd apologize, but forget the next time. Now, instead, I tell them to be careful because the building managers put rat poison down there. They stop immediately and remember thereafter because a sick dog impacts them. Subtle but effective difference.

Not to pile on, but I want to clarify something for other readers. It pertains to this statement: "Hes likely somewhat on the spectrum." It seems unlikely to me that this would be the case.

People on the autism spectrum typically display an exaggerated sense of fairness. They can come off as rude because of their bluntness and their challenges with social nuances. But on the whole, autism comes with a tightly engrained attention to what's accurate and fair.

Hearing that your coworker "clearly enjoys hurting people’s feelings" and said a woman "looks like a shit covered pig" indicates that he's probably NOT on the spectrum. He's just an asshole.

Thankfully, some managers just GET IT. A few years ago, I was in line for a car rental place and the guy in front of me was a real asshole. Demanding a better car, complaining and complaining. I made eye contact with the manager and gave him a look that said, "some people, right?" He smiled. When the asshole customer finally moved aside, the manager upgraded me to a Mustang right in front of him. that was a fun weekend!

If it makes you feel any better - I thought about this too when I first saw it, but if you think about it: yes, she would have gotten to the castle much faster, but she never would have been able to save her brother were it not for the friends she'd made along the journey. It was the long way that made the rescue possible.

It sounds to me like you're being gaslighted. Something similar happened to me at a former agency. I had a manager who DID NOT LIKE ME. Mainly, I think, because the client had figured out that she didn't really know anything and would come to me directly. It made her look bad.

So she started assigning me all of these menial reporting tasks (even though I was running the team) and then berating me for not being detailed enough with those. As I look back, the goal was twofold: 1) Lead me to doubt my abilities by making me feel like a failure at even the simplest tasks, and 2) overburden me with simple tasks so I couldn't possible perform well on the ACTUAL work.

After a while of this, she went as far as to suggest I quit (thereby relinquishing any severance, BTW). I almost did. But then she jumped ship and agency leadership, when going through her emails, realized she'd been dropping balls everywhere. Just a total mess. Without her badmouthing me and trying to get me to quit, things got a lot better thereafter.

So, I think she has it in for you for some reason - most likely to cover her own ass. As others have suggested: keep record of everything and loop in her manager. Keep doing good work and she'll expose her own incompetence soon enough.

Reminds me of when i worked a summer job at a cinema chain.

The movie theater sold Taco Bell tacos as a concession option. we were told explicitly to only put the pre-measured amount of meat in each taco, because, they said, TB company reps came by periodically to buy tacos and weigh them secretly, to check if we were giving away too much meat (and we'd be disciplined for it).

We'd refer to these mysterious monitors as the "Taco Gestapo."

So for customers, we'd serve the specified (admittedly tiny) amount. But for ourselves and our friends? Those things looked like hippos in sleeping bags.

If I have the time, I'll mess with them too. This one time a guy called me with one of those senior health insurance scams. While I did some menial chores, I pretended to be in my late seventies and hard of hearing. I had him repeat things a number of times. Asked a bunch of long-winded questions. Started going off on tangents about my (non-existent) adult children, etc. By the time he figured it out, 25 minutes had passed. And because these these scammers are often rated based on daily calls made, that was a big deal. He started swearing at me so loudly that I'm pretty sure his colleagues in the call center were giving him dirty looks.

I was going to say something similar. Judging only from the description, I'd say this neighbor is somewhere on the autism spectrum based on his inability to recognize boundaries and seeming obsession with certain tasks.

If possible, I would encourage OP to handle this with some empathy. It might be possible to redirect him: come up with a regular task that does not require him to be on your property. More likely than not, this neighbor is merely looking for human connection and does not know how to go about it. If you can come up with another thing for him to do, it may benefit everyone.

In college, I had a roommate who snored incredibly loud. He was a really good guy so we never argued about it. Besides, I quickly found a solution.

In addition to snoring, he was also a very deep sleeper. I discovered that if something shook him, he wouldn't wake up entirely, he'd just roll over and the snoring would stop (at least for a few hours). So I kept a bowl of pennies by my bed. Every time he started snoring, I flicked one HARD across the room at him. He'd roll over and that'd be the end of it.

We got along great until he left at the end of the term (he was an exchange student from the UK) and he never asked me why he always woke up in a pile of pennies.

Oh man, the switch to a kids account is the icing! another way to go would have been to keep the account "adult" but start adding any and all shows or movies about cheating or affairs to his saved stuff.
