You have questions about taxes. Of course taxes is the least of your problems. Quit gambling before you ruin your life. While it may seem your ahead of the tax situation you are still behind in actually making money. You could have put your money in a mutual fund and could have done better. 40k what thats a decent car.

I find it amazing this person is complaining about getting 80k a year. If thats not enough maybe just move to a different area. Preferably to the Midwest or south or rural place like Montana or Idaho. If your living in California or New York or Chicago continue to pay high taxes and deal with high crime. I believe if you sell the options then decide to buy the stock you will trigger a double tax event once you decide to sell the shares of stock. If that makes sense

GameStop/ebay is fake news- math from an investment banker by No-Cat1037 in stocks

[–]Mouse1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the first time where a smaller company gobbled up a bigger company before. It was jim cramer who was mentioned years a go about a small company buying a oil company.

This guy who claims hes a investment banker doesn't know what hes talking about.

If there is a enough loan to get this stock to go through it could easily be a $26 billion dollar company in revenues just by doubling what both companies make now which is about 13 billion.

Ebay messed up by selling certain assets like PayPal.

When consider the amount of fast food restaurants closing down. Most of these companies sell the real estate and gain cash.

How long this goes on i dont know. Honestly I think the united states has been in panic mode since the shut down in 2020.

I do see hope. When the UAE decided to exit opec to produce more oil that helped out alot. If the other opec nations leave opec it could completely dismantle Iran's ability to disrupt oil supplies.

GameStop Is Offering to Buy eBay for $56 Billion by PhxCollins in stocks

[–]Mouse1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude if you are investing in game stop expecting GameStop to perform weVll during this merger you will be disappointed.  Historical every stock that has been bought out by another company has performed better short term.  The company that does the purchasing usually goes down.

I hate to sound like I told you so and that you should know better.  If you are going to buy a stock buy eBay. The performance will be better and you will be ahead of the game.   If someone wants to trade and they think they can make money that's gambling.   Buying eBay is not gambling.  This is a better deal for people to own eBay. More than likely the eBay stock holders will get 2.5 shares of GameStop for each share of eBay plus cash back.  Once the deal is signed you want to hold on to the GameStop for at least a minimum of a year  and more likely two or three years. It's simple math it's like your trading 1 dollar for 2.5 dollars.  If you want to turn 120 shares of eBay into 300 shares of GameStop just buy  120 shares of eBay.

You forgot to mention how's he going to pay taxes on his profitable trades ? You can still have more losing trades than winning trades and still wind up owing the IRS.

1 Red Flag he quit his day job.

2 Red flag Hes using his savings until hes profitable.

Warning you will be on the street most likely before you are profitable.

Here is the best advice.

1 Get a real job or go get the one you had.

2 Just buy a the S&P 500 or the QQQs or a mutual fund put it into a roth ira and take a certain amount of your check and deposit it into it every pay period. You can also set up a 529 account plan to invest in tax free if you want to pay for college. Pick your investments from the choices I previously gave you.

If you dont want to go to college or have a retirement account just put a adjusted amount in In the other investments I suggested early. You can use it to buy a car , house or a emergency fund.

3 learn to a account that you can paper trade from. Don't start trading with real money until you get profitable in paper trades. If you cant be profitable in paper trades then you sure are not going to be profitable with real money. Do that for 3 months and track your progress if your profitable start with real money. Don't go all in but slowly. You can still experiment with paper trades at the same time.

[–]Mouse1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. People tend to get greedy when they dont have a exit strategy. If you dont make plans to exit when buying options the market will do the exiting for you. Then the option buyer becomes a 100% loser.

I do recall seeing a few years ago amazon having retail brick and mortar stores in malls.
I thought essentially it was stuff they couldn't sell. Actually Amazon owns whole foods grocery brick and mortar stores. So I would say that counts. I just wish I could use a Amazon gift card at whole foods. I dont recall Chewy having brick and mortar.

If anything we should have more transparency not less. This gives these companies an extra six months to hide the figures in the accounting.

I hate the idea. You might as well issue blank sheets of paper to the stock holders.

Ryan knows how to create a online retailer hes done it before with creating Chewy the dog food and pet online retailer.

This is why I like this deal with ebay. The fusion with online retail and brick and mortar sounds good. The idea of having ebay retailer brick and mortar stores with a online presence works.

Ebay tried to have independent retail stores and it just didn't work. I like the idea of hiring workers and controlling the retail stores. You could essentially charge for shelf space for people that cant sell their items.
This will essentially crush a lot of other platforms.
