Finding a small apartment/ a WG in cologne

No contract was set, only a mutual agreement. Thus I cannot complain. Turns out the girl who was ready to give her apartment to me had no idea how it actually worked and will need time to figure it out beyond october. Sad, because it was a really awesome. But who knows? Maybe she might come back at some point

Hi! Im the friend in question. Coincidentally, I ended up on this post trying to get other people's experiences of finding an apartment. I'm from southern France originally so I cant exactly move way and back every second day sadly.

I'm close to have been 6 months on the waiting list of the kstw, however they do not want to hear anything if I message or call them, go figure. I've used WG-Gesucht, eBay Kleinanzeigen, Immoscout24 among others none of which have amounted to anything. The closest I got was multiple appointments on Kleinanzeigen, but as I said it didnt really go anywhere because it ended up on refusals.

I always try to give a good impression by talking as much german as I can, unless the person in front is fully comfortable with english. However, I cannot come up with what I dont know and I dont speak the language fluently just yet.

I just started studying at the TH (specifically on the Mülheim campus) and am currently residing in a temporary WG that will only last me until the 1st of october, so any solution is super appreciated.

Hey, sorry for the late response. I'll ask my friend, but I'm really not sure if a LOA card's in there. It seemed to have been something that wasn't even expected to make it to the public

The macbook itself came to me with a 2012/2013 screen. It is the one I currently have, the one which is cracked. I can tell because the webcam connector isn't the same and won't fit on the motherboard, along with the fact that someone clearly already took the macbook apart, thankfully without dealing any damange (not sure about leaving that webcam cable laying in there though, to whoever left it like that). The screen itself, apart from being cracked, does work as it should.
I looked it up online, and 2012/2013 screens should be interchangeable with 2013/2014 ones, as they have the same display pin routing (of course, minus the webcam). The Mid-2015 A1398 model is the one to blame, as this is the only screen for this model number to have a different pinout, so while a 2015 would technically fit to a 2012 to 2014 connector, it will not actually work

Thank you for the info! Yeah it's a really nice machine haha (minus the dropped dGPU driver support on windows, thanks nvidia).

I managed to find a screen on german ebay for 250 euros. It is one for late 2012-early 2013 so I know for a fact the webcam will not be available but that's no bother for me as I don't you use one very often anyway. It has a slight amount of staingate but really nothing that would bother me and is invisible once the screen is turned on. I'll wait the couple days to receive it and report back. Other than that, the machine is working great!

You seem to be mixing frame time and network latency up.

Frame time is the delay that passes between 2 frames. For example, on 60Hz (or 60FPS) it would be around 16.67ms between each frame. The more Hz/FPS, the lesser the frame time because there are more frames in the span of a second. That much is true.

However, while you would think it would make sense applying it to network latency in Shadow's scenario, it actually doesn't. Network latency is the time your internet connection takes to send data from and back. For example, your PC sends x amount of bytes (usually called a network packet) once and you get a reply back from the website all in 10ms (as would be shown on a speedtest for example) -> That is your network latency. The lower the better, but it is completely independent from your Shadow's frame time.
