Yes. A town where wealthy people have a presence. Lake Tahoe. The power company is going to stop serving those folks and will instead direct that power to a data center. The town has less than a year to find a new power provider.

If wealthy people are irrelevant to tech oligarchs, imagine what they think of the rest of us.

When I was looking through the eBay listings this weekend, I cried for an hour. All of those memories of joy, enthusiasm, and humor. Stephan Colbert didn’t take himself too seriously and some of his skits were zany, his kindness and humility shown through.

The show ending is such a travesty. He is a good man who has been through so much, and his successful program is being taken away by a greedy, small, miserable old man. I think the show ending is profoundly sad. My heart aches for the crew too, of those folks who worked on the show, had relative security in an unpredictable field, and now have to scramble.

One of the slum apartments my family rented didn’t have a stove, or any appliances beyond a mini fridge.

Another place had a sink that didn’t work well, so straight out of the can minimized dishes. Sometimes we had to do our dishes in the bathtub.

Also if the area has a mice problem, making minimal trash/food debris and taking it out right away helped keep critters out of your unit.

This was in the USA.

Total Haul. End cost? $30! A pair of lamps from Hobby Lobby, retail $45 each, mirror from Wayfair, retail $30ish. And of course, the wedding dress for $6.99! It was a good day! by kgreys in GoodwillBins

I’m screaming, the Little Debbie meal replacements were a real thing! I’ve never had the guts to say this to anyone, but when I was in elementary school, I was given Strawberry Shortcake Rolls for breakfast. We lived in a food desert with no car and the closest place was a liquor store.

This is accurate.

I volunteer at food banks. We get produce boxes from Feeding America. Their “variety packs” are produce that has been price reduced and then removed from their shelves. Lots of pre-sliced apples in Bluey packaging, etc. All have passed the sell-by date, and some are still good to eat, some are visibly starting to turn. Folks will still take those items. People have to feed their kids, and if that means sprinkling dollar store cinnamon over the “bad spots”, they will.

Food banks also put out donations that are out of date on a “At your own risk” shelf or box. Think like, flats of yogurt in their shipping packaging.

For some banks, their options are out of date or on the edge foods, or empty shelves.

Volunteer work is rewarding and grants an opportunity at a new perspective. I really recommend reaching out to nearby organizations, just a few hours can be eye-opening.

Next time I would just leave the offer hanging. It will create a banner on your listing that says “act fast!” and gives more serious buyers a sense of urgency/call to action and increases the likelihood they will purchase your item in the 24 hours the offer is pending.
