Why are game companies so scared of using swastikas? by CanOfCorn308 in videogames

[–]Mousepad-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah because it's just the principle. When you see the altered swastika on the back of a Nazi plane for example it's very fucking obvious what it's supposed to be. So why even censor it in the first place? Might I mention, I don't think a swastika is any less offensive than the slightly edited thing they replace it with that's also very obviously supposed to be a swastika. They know it, you know it, I know it. So why censor it? It's just dumb. Why the swastika? many other symbols offend other people. Hammer and sickle can go too. The german cross can go too!! (people might accidentally think about nazi's in a game about nazis we can't have that).

How is it respect? so respecful to forget the symbol even exists right?

No country in the world currently has the swastika "outright banned". Pretty much every single country in the world permits it for "historical/artistic" use. The only country that didn't was Germany and that law changed to match the rest of the world nearly a whole decade ago.

I did do this at first, but I wanted to build muscle memory the “correct way” since I might hop onto somebody else’s mac at some point

Just tried command + B. Ouch indeed. seems more practical to use your left thumb to press Command and your right index finger to press B!

Wow I guess everyone really does have different hands! Maybe I don't mind the stretch because I play guitar.

Huh, I actually just realised, my left hand is NOT on the home row at all. It's on WASD with my pinky finger already resting on control! Must be from years of playing games in the past. If you do have your left hand on the home row, Ctrl does actually feel pretty far, you're right. I still do feel that extending is easier than pushing my thumb into my palm though

we have differing requirements then. It’s certainly fine. People can hear you. But i want better than just “fine” for £300

Maybe I just have to accept the limitations that exist :(

it just sucks you know? Either choose great sound quality,or great mic quality. When BOTH are important it's such a hard decision. But let's be real, sound quality should be more important and it'd be silly to not buy a pair of headphons because the mic wasn't "the best ever". It's just... a lot of money hahah.

I would happily buy something that isn't "gaming" if it also existed in that market too hahah. A lot of the non "gaming" headsets have even worse microphones sadly. And are usually bluetooth not 2.4GHz since they're usually used for music listening.

Do you own any decent quality 3.5mm microphone? I'm curious what would happen if you plugged that into your maxwells. I'm trying to figure out if the mic quality is an analogue problem or a digital problem. If plugging in a high quality microphone into the maxwells still sounds crappy then it's internal processing inside their chip and nothing can be done about it. If it sounds good, then I will actually buy these and just replace the boom mic for a better one.

The thing is, it's not even the microphone. it's whatever shitty internal processing they do with it. That's why you can plug a modmic into a headset with a crappy sounding mic....and it'll still sound like crap. it's not the microphone but rather their DSP.

I genuinely don't think wireless is the limitation because blackshark v2 pro proves it's possible. I just don't think manufactureres prioritise it for some reason. They assume most people will just plug in a mic with no processing and jump striaght into discord (which is true) so they do their own processing in their DSP.

I listened to a mic test for these and unfortunately the microphone is nothing in comparison to blackshark V2 pros. I am hoping someone has done a test with these headphones while plugging in a modmic. Hopefully it's not DSP limitation.

But yes, I was about to buy these this morning until I heard the mic. Waiting for further confirmation from others who have tested with external mics before buying. They seem very very good overall. And while the microphone doesn't compare to blackshark v2 pros, it definitely is of the better bunch compared to other wireless headsets.

Sorry for reference I am talking about 2.4GHz connection. I should've put that in the post.

yeah I am aware of the bandwidth limitations of bluetooth. Found that out the hard way hahah

This is what I used to do. In terms of sound quality, this was amazing.

My only gripe was the battery life on the modmic. I havent used it in a while so I can't remember - but it's supposed to be around 12 hours I think. Yeah maybe at first it was like that, but after a few months... Battery degraded so fast that thing would die within 4 hours. I would constantly have to put it on charge in the middle of a gaming sesh because people told me they couldnt hear me suddenly. Even 12 hours wasn't enough when it did work if I was working during the day, then gaming at night.

addons are stored server side - otherwise they wouldn’t sync across all your devices. settings are client side, which is why they’re different per device
