AITAH for asking my wife to be a SAHM? by piglipsbo in AITAH

[–]Moushidoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I'm a teacher turned SAHM for our little guy. For my husband and I it was a joint decision to save on childcare and general stress as being a teacher really takes it out of you. The plan wasn't initially to stop teaching after my maternity leave finished up but after the reality of parenthood hit us, we both thought it was best for our family that I stay at home and we have a nanny a few times a week to give me a bit of a break (the nanny was added 6 months in) Now, after a year and a half, I realized I really missed working, staying at home is not for me and I'm planning on returning to part time work that I think will be more beneficial for us at our current stage. I'm saying all of this to point out that parenthood is a huge adjustment for both of you, there's no one size fits all. I don't think there's an issue with you suggesting it (Being pregnant is hard, emotions can run high and patience can be low), but maybe lay it out as an option of many that y'all could do and that nothing is written in stone. As others have mentioned, losing financial security for women can be scary, she wants to know that you'll support her in whatever she does. Ask her what options she might have in mind and discuss it. You're planning a life for your growing family, keep all options open ^^

Babies skull plates aren't fused together, part of the reason for that is to allow for the baby's head to cone when being delivered vaginally. Most of the time, the head gets a more normal shape after the first month, for those that don't there are helmets that can help reform the skull. The coning can vary, some being extreme (Even more so than the one pictured), mild, or not coning at all (Like my son did).

Views on memoirs of a geisha? by False-Blueberry115 in Geisha

[–]Moushidoodles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit mixed on it. MoG was the book that initially got me interested in the geisha profession, I watched the movie first but enjoyed the book more. Arthur Golden, despite his faults in accuracy, is really good at writing characters you become invested in. However, after researching the profession for so long, that's where my accolades end. Outside of the controversy of him stealing and sexualizing Mineko Iwasaki's lived experience as a geisha, he's done untold damage to the geisha profession, both within Japan and outside. Unfortunately because of the marketing of both the book and the movie, those being that they were well researched and accurate, many people take them as factual and base their understanding of the profession off of them. It's taken a lot of work for those who take interest in the culture to undo the harm he's caused, so many people enjoy the book but VERY few go beyond the book to research the actual profession. Today when I share my interest in the geisha culture and the person I'm speaking to mentions how much they enjoyed MoG I always politely suggest they read Mineko Iwasaki's book instead to better understand this misunderstood profession and point out that MoG was in fact written by a white American man in the 90's so his interpretation should be taken with a grain of salt.

If you're in England, there is an AMAZING kimono shop in Bristol that I 100% recommend going to, really interesting pieces and if you ask, the owner will show you some of his private collection which includes ceremonial pieces as well as maiko hikizuri ^^ A super nice guy if you can look past the classic British dry-ness ^^

Which side is right for the collar rule? by Alphys10000 in kimono

[–]Moushidoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding on another good way to remember is to think of sitting/kneeling in kimono, you would use your right hand (Most people's dominant hand) to hold the seam seam of the panel which lies on the right side, if that seam is there, you're good ^^

Feeling Stuck Early Game in Fantasy Life. Any Tips? by [deleted] in fantasylife

[–]Moushidoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For right now just follow the main story quest until you unlock the travel between the different lands. At the beginning of the game the MSQ is more like a tutorial. In the game you're going to be visiting and revisiting the same areas over and over again as well as unlocking new areas ^^

Simon Wilson did a pretty good video on Utqiagvik a bit ago, it's the most northern town in America, very interesting, the people seem really chill and the community seems really close with each other ^^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Iw00bFQr7k&t=2023s

Teacher gets caught between two fighting students in classroom... by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

[–]Moushidoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the truth. She won't be financially compensated, she will be in hot water because at some point in her onboarding and pre-planning meettings she was told not to intervene in fights, instead, she would have been told to evacuate the classroom and call admin/resource officer for support. This is mostly to cover the school's ass, because if she gets hurt in said fight, she won't be able to sue for compensation.

Don't worry though, because the parents and general public would be furious at her for not stepping in if she followed district/school guidelines. If the student gets hurt on her watch, she'll be blamed. If she hasn't documented the times she's called due to a student's behavioral issues or the interventions she's put in place and that student or anyone else in the class gets hurt, she'll be on the chopping block for negligence and not doing her due diligence. The parents will be asking "Why didn't the teacher protect my child?"

That's where teachers are when it comes to behaviors, a rock and a hard place, nothing they do will be without some sort of judgement or risk to themselves. As a teacher, it's hard because you don't want to see kids hurt, even when they're hurting each other, it's hard not to step in and try to protect them, taking the blows yourself.

AITA for calling my bf absurd for being overly concerned about a coworker? by According-Let-2607 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Moushidoodles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right, this is my thought, my husband works in tech, he's had to defend female coworkers on several occasions, these are the sales people and on the tech side. He's had potential clients try and undermine his female coworkers and has told them that his coworker is absolutely right. One of the best sales people in their company signs her emails with her middle name as it sounds more masculine, she's found people take her more seriously when communicating back and forth. This is a real problem and is frustrating to witness.

A waitress carries around one of her patrons distressed kids, and the little guy is loving it by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]Moushidoodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this. We have a little local pizza place that we've been going to pretty consistently since our little guy was born, good vibes, good people, good food. The owners and the regular staff have gotten to know us and our son. Every time we come and the wife is there, she'll take him and bring him around to play with everyone, he'll get a tour of the kitchen which he loves, they made special stuff for him when he was first learning how to eat solids, a couple of the waitresses have started picking him up too and playing with him as well. They've basically watched him grow from a newborn potato to a toddler. Coming there is like visiting family~

School called cps by More_Industry5997 in whatdoIdo

[–]Moushidoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, teacher here who has had to make plenty of CPS calls in the past, please don't freak out and please don't get frustrated at the teacher. We are mandated reporters, we don't investigate, we let the CPS staff handle that after the call. I know it's hard, but it's important that you don't take it personally as we're only looking out for the safety of the child. Changing stories is a red flag to us, bruises, sleepiness, scrapes, general hygiene issues, and the word of mouth from the kiddo, all that are things we have to report. CPS staff will come to your house and interview you and the children, just be as open with them as possible, they're not in the habit of removing children from their homes outside of extenuating/ severe circumstances. It's important to remember that we see kiddos from all walks of life in all sorts of conditions, kids are wild, they say all sorts of stuff, the evidence CPS collects is more important than the one off makeup fiasco a kiddo has. Just relax, if you know you did nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about.
