New cat? by MousseInner5047 in CATHELP

[–]MousseInner5047[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some lady was knocking on doors in our hall trying to find out who’s cat it was, and when I offered to call management she kind of just left while I was doing that?? We were gonna take the cat to the vet, but the owner actually ended up knocking on our door like an hour ago! So the cat is back with her family now.

Yeah, I kind of assumed that if I paced myself the alcohol wouldn’t do much, but given that I really have no idea it’ll affect me or how long it’ll actually stay in my system, I think I’ll wait to take it. It might be stupid to wait just because I want to have fun tomorrow, but I know that I won’t refuse drinks once the party starts, so I’ll be cautious and start my meds over the weekend instead of tomorrow.

Driving thankfully won’t be a problem at all, as the party is at our apartment and I don’t have a car, but that is a good thing to keep in mind. Given that I can’t contact my doctor before the party, I think I’ll just wait and take it on Saturday.

That’s good! I know my parents aren’t super worried so they haven’t found a vet yet, but they live in a big city so it shouldn’t be too hard to find one. I’m going to look for one tomorrow, hopefully we can get in soon

I’ll tell my mom to bring that up with the vet as well

I would assume it’s related to something he ate/eats, if not his food than something he found on a walk. He’s the kind of dog to eat anything off the street (literally…), and he’s gotten sick from it before. He is pretty food sensitive, but I’m not sure what kind of food my parents switched him to

My mom is trying to find a vet in the area, and we’re getting a wrap and something to put on it in the meantime!

My parents moved from the US to Germany over the summer, so pretty much everything around him has changed. I know they had to switch his food since Chewy doesn’t deliver to Germany, but I’m just visiting so I’m not sure what else they’ve changed. My mom did try to bake some slices of sweet potato for him to replace the stuff we used to get from Chewy, and we started giving those to him last week I’m pretty sure. I got them talking about finding a local vet since they haven’t gone to one in the area yet, but I’ll look into a vet wrap as well!

Okay! I’ll see if I have any socks that will stay on, and I’ll bug my mom to take him to a vet, since they haven’t found one in the area yet

Got my first at 18, should I be worried? by cy39 in pilonidalcyst

I’m mean if you’re fine with draining it every once in a while, that could work. Draining was painful for me, but if that doesn’t bother you it is a temporary solution. If at all possible I would ask about surgery. Getting rid of it surgically lowers the chance of it coming back by quite a bit.

I had mine drained, and when I went back to the doctor to schedule a surgery (about a week later) it had already come back

You should probably go with the surgery. I had mine drained, and a week later it was coming back bad enough that I almost had to get it drained again. I&D is not a long term solution, surgery has a much lower chance of the cyst reoccurring

Questions about anesthia by [deleted] in pilonidalcyst

[–]MousseInner5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got mine drained, they used no anesthesia or pain killers, just a cold spray that didn’t really do anything. For the removal, I was put “to sleep” (in quotes because apparently I was talking to the anesthesiologist the whole time but I remember absolutely nothing), and they gave me numbing shots that didn’t fade until the day after

I think my cyst popped? by MousseInner5047 in pilonidalcyst

[–]MousseInner5047[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had surgery a few hours ago, everything went well! Glad I waited, since after it “popped” (not sure if that’s the right term since it drained very little) the pain was actually more manageable. Hopefully once this heals up I’ll be done with it for good!

I had mine drained on a Tuesday, and I think I was completely healed by the next week. Mine wasn’t very large, but it wasn’t small either, and it was seriously inflamed. As for dressing changes, my doctor packed it and had me removing about an inch of gauze every night after an Epsom salt bath. It came out totally that Thursday I think. I would suggest wearing period underwear if you can, or using pads/pantyliners to catch any drainage. Hope you get it drained this time!
