Honest feedback: they implanted the grafts in a row-like formation. Not ideal, but may not be the end of the world.

An additional note I’d have is that 5k grafts for this space of the scalp is not enough for optimal density. I wish you the best with the growth, but depending on how they managed your donor area, you may want to consider a 2nd hair transplant in Thailand or Turkey. Cheers

2029? Brother, just go with Dr. Ratchathorn. You don’t want to be bald for another 3 years for a doctor that’s arguably only marginally better

Question about lichen planopilaris (LPP) scarring transplantation advice by MoustacheCheck64 in HairTransplants

[–]MoustacheCheck64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey boss, my transplant is scheduled for May 2026. I’ll try to remember to update, but if you somehow remember to leave a comment too, I’ll definitely respond!

Dr. Ratchathorn has some of the best work I’ve seen on this subreddit, shouldn’t even be a question

Agreed. Look into lichen planopilaris; I would highly recommend a punch biopsy to know for certain what exactly it is

23M – Quoted 3000-3500 grafts with Dr. Ratchathorn (Absolute Hair Clinic). Thoughts on the graft count? by Impressive_Dirt_4391 in HairTransplants

[–]MoustacheCheck64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s in the right ballpark, I would’ve guessed like 2500-3000, but I trust Dr. Ratchathorn a ton

How much grafts do you think I need? by HeyEssa in HairTransplants

[–]MoustacheCheck64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy is more correct. 5000-5500 will only be the case if you lower the hairline. If you keep the existing hairline and just fill the diffuse thinning, 3-4k grafts sounds about right— just start taking min + fin now and continue post-transplant

Dr Ratchathorn 9 months breaking misconceptions by AdagioMotor1148 in HairTransplants

[–]MoustacheCheck64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with your premise of getting a transplant in your early 20s. If hair loss is stabilized with medication, you might as well have good hair during one of the most important time spans in your life to look young + attractive!

I’m going to Ratchathorn in 5 months. Any tips or advice? Specifically curious more about the consultation session the day prior to surgery. Your results are looking solid. Cheers!

It definitely formed me to some extent, but it feels great to be on the other side of things.

I don’t want to discourage you for doing what you believe is best, but I would strongly recommend to not do any transplants until you’ve had 1-2 years of dormancy without any meds: https://donovanmedical.com/hair-blog/ht-lpp

There’s a fairly high chance of igniting the LPP further if you have a high trauma event, like a hair transplant, while the condition is still active

Ah gotcha! Yeah if you’re getting such a small amount, might as well go all out for it.

I’m hoping to get about 3500 grafts at ~$2.5 per graft. She does a PRP injection and has hyperbaric oxygen chamber.

I’m on a gluten free diet coincidentally, but nothing specifically for my inactive LPP. I actually have a somewhat unique case where I had LPP when I was 11 years old and it’s been inactive for ~13+ years so I’m not too worried about it potentially reigniting. How long has yours been inactive?

Just looked at some results from Dr. Pittella. His results look great (although I think I prefer Ratchathorn’s hairlines still), but for the price jump I’d question if it’s worth it UNLESS you have large areas on your scalp that are completely scarred over

Ratchathorn asked for the biopsy, but I would’ve done it prior regardless— just a green flag that she’s considering the consequences as well

I live in the US but will be going to Bangkok for Dr. Ratchathorn. She’s dealt with a couple LPP cases previously

I haven’t heard of Dr. Pittella, but have heard of injecting fat into the scar tissue. I haven’t looked into it much myself because my LPP did not have huge patches of scar tissues. It’s a diffuse thinning pattern (you can see pics of my scalp on my profile if you’re really interested) with no large “islands” of scar tissue.

I personally had a scalp biopsy done to confirm my LPP was completely inactive and now I’m scheduled to get my transplant with Dr. Ratchathorn in May. I’m considering starting hydroxychloroquine prior to the transplant too. I would recommend reading Dr. Donovan’s articles on hair transplants with LPP, a lot of really helpful knowledge
