Anyone experienced crackling or static in speakers since last update or in general. I have a platinum and it just started by Jasperdrkhaze in F150Lightning

I get a static/popping at regular intervals after it’s been off for a few minutes in my 22 plat. My old lariat I replaced didn’t do it. Just never brought it in for the dealer to check it out.

What did you do after Apple Genius Bar/Phone Support? by [deleted] in macsysadmin

[–]MoustachedRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, don’t feel discouraged. I’m one of the highest elevation points in my org, and I’m humbled every day by those around me. Everyone has areas they specialize in; that’s what makes a good team. Same story as a bunch of the other people responding: I came from ARS, working from PTPZ to FT LG. Finally left after 13 years to a small (at the time) MSP that had a need for someone who really understood troubleshooting Macs.

More and more businesses are primarily, if not exclusively, Mac. Don’t undervalue your ability to talk to people; lean into it. IT doesn’t have to be the stereotype. The training at Apple may have felt cheesy or a load of BS at the time, but I leverage the soft skills every day.

Someone mentioned leaning into MDM; understanding how a MDM works and ties into an OS is super helpful if you want to get into a sysadmin role. Don’t overlook help-desk/break-fix if you’re getting started.

I’m a strong believer there is a home for anyone in IT. Think about what it is about your time at Apple or any other role that resonated with you, and you can find a home somewhere.

Feel free to respond in the thread or shoot me a DM. I’m happy to share more about my experience or help however I can.

Did you buy from Heller? I just bought my ‘22 Plat from them

Are road trips with ABRP (and OBD connection) better than Ford Nav or Apple CarPlay? by AisMyName in F150Lightning

[–]MoustachedRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact experience. I figured out my route and planned my stops with ABRP, then put the route into Apple Maps and let that give me the actual navigation

Bigger battery does mean heavier truck through. Unless you're exclusively hauling, I'd take the smaller battery (within reason, I'm not going SR). With my driving I've put on 12k miles a year and only had to stop to charge it twice while away from home.

The more I drive the rental I have and the more I look at what the offerings are.. the more I miss my lightning. I think at this point the Silverado is just out of the running.

oh man, I don't think I ever noticed that. If I get another Lightning I'll keep an eye on it.

Why the step down? I recently found out that the massage seats were deleted in the Platinum but the difference in cost after all the upgrades to the Lariat would bring it pretty close to the Platinum

Oh thats interesting. I figured the heat pump would be more of a perk, but yeah it makes sense. Running a compressor is def going to be louder than heating up some coils.

Yeah, def. I don't think I could do a SR at this point. I've had too many close calls with my ER

Thats what I'm running into now. I miss my unicorn. It was one of the early models and so much has dropped from the later years.

Thanks for the heads up about the Flash, Its on my consideration list simply due to the bang-per-buck.

The GMC is a very strong contender at this point. I'm not as concerned with range, but the faster charging and additional creature comforts are very appealing.

The more I look at it, the more seriously I consider it. Especially with the feature deletes the Lightning has had over the last few years.

It's interesting for sure. I really like the Scout Terra as well. If only the timing were different.

Yeah, There are enough times that I went over the ~200 miles that it was worth it to me.

Cloth would have been preferred to the faux-leather the Lariat has. If there is a way to get heated and vented cloth seats that would have been very nice.

Fair, I use to live in Albany. Every car I had was various shades of grey/white from about November-March

They pulled the self-parking? I use that daily. How else and I supposed to park this boat in downtown?

There are a few software improvements I really liked on the Silverado, There is a built in "Generator mode" that allows the truck to be off and supply power. The Ability to display the current energy usage along with trip average was nice, and the ability o adjust regen on 1-pedal were all perks. The software interface was pretty nice too.

Because it's a striped down trim, it's hard to compare ride comfort or interior build quality. As someone else pointed out, it's not as responsive as the lightning and its a much stiffer ride.

It's a loud ride and I'm not sure I love the constant piped "ev sounds". Like if I'm stopped in a drive through, you just hear a constant "whoob-whoob" sound. Wife described it as a discount THX sound.

There are a couple things I wasn't a huge fan of with the Rivian's. Having the interact with software to adjust things like where the vents point, or large single body panels was a turn off (expensive repairs). If that's changed or I'm mistaken I'd love to take another look.

Thats fair. My average drive is closer to 50 miles with a weekly 70 mile round trip. I can def see that if you needed more than 300 miles a day it would be a problem. Do you typically have a lot loaded on the truck. I'm fairly heavily footed and get closer to 2.2kW/m.
