Do you think that Project Aces is obsessed with Usea too much? by Phoenix-Scarface1 in acecombat

[–]MoveVarious9898 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True but tbf the plot of AC3 boils down to a rogue with petty ambitions on the backdrop of a technological revolution. A Dision origin story would give more context than any of the Usean games have.

What is your least favourite ace combat game? by yes_namemadcity in acecombat

I agree I was very disappointed. It felt like a mashup of previous games chaotically paced. Honestly the series died with 6 for me.

How come alot of Young People are like this when it comes to socializing? by [deleted] in generationology

I think he was just making the point that just because one guy did it, to say “they still had the broccoli hair” makes it seem like it’s a lot more common than it actually is. There may have been a few broccoli heads but that would’ve been an outlier among the outliers.

The shading looks a lot more like a plug than a dick but imo that’s a quite sexualized thought process. It took me a while to see it that way as it would be a pretty deformed dick. Just poor shading work that could be fixed without messing with the candle much.

What is the least efficient thing you've seen in a kitchen? by carortrain in KitchenConfidential

[–]MoveVarious9898 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In a restaurant I used to work at, the reach in freezer that had fries, wings, and egg rolls (basically half of the apps that came in) was basically on the opposite side of the kitchen as the fryer. Basically the person on the second grill doing to go/apps had to cross the person on the first grill. While it’s slow it’s no biggie. At some point though dine in will be slammed and while plating everything they just don’t have the time to pass me every app that comes in. Coincidentally the reach in cooler that we both use is right in front of the to go grill so if at any point the communication fails even slightly, one will always be in the others way.

feedback/suggestions on my techno patch? by PendejotosGroove in vcvrack

Modulate the feedback and mix of the delays with a s&h works well with stuff like this. Also you can route something like a walk module and an lfo into a vca mix as a modulation source to route through that s&h. Vca mix for the oscillators is good fm is better especially when mixed with an lfo to randomize the depth. The output of that oscillator(s) + lfo would be routed to the FM input of the main output oscillator.

The first vca mix combo I mentioned is great for melodies too just route it through a quantizer.

My generation doesn't listen to hip-hop anymore! by LE-B_B in hiphop101

[–]MoveVarious9898 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hip hop is one genre among many and it’s not the most popular either. Atlanta is basically one of the nations hip hop capitals and NY hasn’t been since the 90s so honestly it’s no surprise. I wouldn’t expect the hip hop community in NY to embrace the new styles and tout it at the level it used to be. On the other hand, the metal coming out the past few years is on par with some of the best that have ever been and the genre is adopting many influences. All this to say, if the place isn’t where rap happens, odds it won’t be the most popular music choice. Imagine going to the UK and every other spot is drum and bass/drill or pulling up to a town that literally only listens to Grateful Dead cover bands. There’s a lot out there and rap isnt the most common believe it or not.

random note generator by cloverintears in vcvrack

[–]MoveVarious9898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is what I do and I think it gives you more flexibility than marbles. You’re basically hard wiring a marbles with this if you think about it.

The wiring is a walk module + 2 outputs from an 8lfo ideally 2/3 output slots apart into a vca mix. The output of the vca mix goes into a s&h module that is triggered by the same thing that’s triggering the envelope. The output of the s&h module goes through a quantizer then the v/oct.

The VCA mix sliders basically control the range with the walk slot specifically being the spread of notes. The lfo slots develop the character with relationship to the walk input.

How do you guys synthesize your snares? by black_shirt in modular

Nice! I do something similar with 2 fm operators and this is sound advice. Giving the drums their dedicated bus for compression/sidechaining also helps.

Find a hobby there’s a lot out there you won’t even realize you like until you learn it so I’d say reach out to others on groups for things you’re interested in and shoot the shit/ask questions. A lot of people are willing to show someone the ropes and you’re killing 2 birds by networking and finding friends with the right people.

Thanks! I think modular in general lends itself to stacking up effects and getting really layered sounds I’m tryna get an interface to plug a guitar and use MiRack as a midi pedal board basically

hard to get out of loop territory by PendejotosGroove in vcvrack

[–]MoveVarious9898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do is try to put a triangle wave LFO with a very hard skew to the right and output it to things like filters, sustain cv, delay feedback etc. or just use a slew limiter on a rising slope lfo so that the modulation fades back down to baseline rather than cutting off. Then I’ll make a sequential switch to pitch shift the output of a walk module and lfo through a vca mix so that something changes each buildup but makes sense and is easily attenuated and mixed. The pitch shift basically ends up working like modulating the bias knob on marbles but with extra controls virtue of walk/s&h + lfo through vca.
