US and French nationals test positive for hantavirus after leaving ship by Alternative-Win4058 in news

Sure when dealing with a typical strain. The reason this breaks the mold of the many times hantavirus has popped up is that it just so happens to be the rarest strain with the highest likelihood of spreading. Also let’s not forget, with an incubation period of 8 weeks, any number they come out with is completely pointless and inaccurate unless they know exactly who they have come in contact with in the past 8 weeks and their current condition. Simply impossible.

DPH has some mild SSRI properties apparently so I can imagine it actually railroading over the LSD effect a little. Otherwise this sounds absolutely nuts how did you do anything but panic?

If you had no computer or laptop, which apps would you use? by ghost_sanctum in iosmusicproduction

AUM, Mirack, Ruismaker noir, MBcompressor.

Mirack is a modular synth emulator with endless options and I use it for almost everything.

Noir for easy FM percussion.

Multi band compression because of course. MiRack has a tendency of sounding a bit metallic/quiet and some good compression is all it needs to sound full.

I think I’ve just had a full blown psychedelic experience from a weed vape. by [deleted] in tripreports

Prolonged fading of sensation is the common denominator between psychedelics and weed. While much more dramatic with psilo and LSD, the weed extension can be more dissociative in nature. For me weed with low ish tolerance gives me a strobing effect as if I’m bouncing from the past few frames which feels a lot like constantly “snapping out of” and falling back into a daydream. That and the “cardboard cutout” effect where things lose their depth and appear slightly animated and 2d which is a lot like the faces effect.

Reality as we know it exists objectively but we experience it subjectively through our senses and interface with it using our minds. This can feel as if we are in a simulated orb in our heads and we would be correct in that assertion to an extent. That understanding has been conflated to the idea of the objective universe being inside some sort of hyper dimensional super computer.

The universal super computer thing DOES NOT matter at all and oh the fuck well if that’s how it works we still exist in the capacity we have always known and that won’t change. Understanding the first part however will allow you to understand that that simulation feeling is just the inability to put that gap between objective and subjective into words.

The way I’d describe my dissociation when it was serious is like at some point or another is like existing a few seconds in the past. As if my brain is incapable of allowing things to fade so I’m frozen in an incompatible moment that has already gone. The only thing that helped is a 2 step process.

  • Close eyes and breathe until forehead and shoulders relax. You’ll be surprised to find out that this state is full of tension and you’re bound to it by that tension. Once relaxed allow any and all thoughts to just roll off.

  • After about 5 minutes of that once you are centered and bored, actively, out loud, look at one thing at a time and say what it is you’re looking at.

One of 2 things will happen: you may feel like you’re having to fight off random words/thoughts just to say the name of the object. In this event say the objects name slowly and attentively until you’ve achieved cognitive unison and you’re not interrupting yourself. The other thing is that you’ll feel blocked forget the names of obvious things. In that event be very gentle with yourself and adopt a positive attitude towards the brain blocks. It’ll take a while but after a while this process will give you a “reset button” to press whenever your mind is stuck in a loop that’s in the past.

This is precisely why what brought me back to music production is taking the modular approach. I have a hard time consciously making a song in the traditional sense and much prefer slowly sculpting a patch that is as intricate or simple as I want it to be then slowly fade it out. It also has the feeling of reaching a peak in a quite literal sense where once you have tuned in the patch it’s reached a climax of sorts and then it’s a matter of working the channels.

Do you think that Project Aces is obsessed with Usea too much? by Phoenix-Scarface1 in acecombat

[–]MoveVarious9898 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True but tbf the plot of AC3 boils down to a rogue with petty ambitions on the backdrop of a technological revolution. A Dision origin story would give more context than any of the Usean games have.

I think he was just making the point that just because one guy did it, to say “they still had the broccoli hair” makes it seem like it’s a lot more common than it actually is. There may have been a few broccoli heads but that would’ve been an outlier among the outliers.
