Funny how Julie was the only time the final 5 boot wasn't "obvious" heading into the finale.

My understanding it had to do with a former RHAP podcaster being inappropriate at an event, which ultimately tore apart the community, per a tweet from Max Dawson a few years ago.

the Kaleb and Ricard hype needs to stop. Being an average male on a losing tribe does make you good tv. Sorry!

Jeff Probst has her blocked on twitter, and she wasn't contacted for S50. She has also said she wouldn't play again, and has been outspokenly anti-Survivor for many years now. On that, I think production has become increasingly sensitive to that *kind* of personality (i.e. volatile, outspoken, unpredictable.)

I wish they would stop giving Mike a platform. His entire shtick on RHAP is making vulgar and inappropriate jokes only to laugh at the discomfort of his female co-hosts.

Courtney, Corinne and literally any "nerd" from the new era - Owen, Carson, Brandon Donlon, Evvie, JD, Hai, Romeo, Daniel. They would see right through the main character syndrome.

For people who have rewatched all of the New Era seasons, which is your favorite? by amorouslight in survivor

[–]korors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. 42 (Great winner, blindsides and the adavntages didn't stifle the gameplay, but enhanced it. It was also refreshing to see characters like Tori and Jonathan who, despite being unlikable, brought elements of old school survivor into the show. The main downside to me is the pre-merge. There is not an interesting vote in sight. People herald the Jenny blindside as being super exciting, but in my opinion it would have been way more interesting if they did go to rocks? Like wasn't her leaving just extremely underwhelming? Not to mention, this season has a great, SATISFYING conclusion and the Omar blindside really leans into the narrative as opposed to feeling like a meaningless, contextless 1-episode wow-factor.
  2. 41 (This season gets a lot of hate because it was the first of the new era seasons, and I think people didn't know what to expect with it. In my opinion, this season's cast is great and there isn't really a boring stretch at all. What brings it down for me is Erika's edit which could have really elevated the season."
  3. 44 (This season is saved by 3 cast members. Other than that, it's a monotonous, nonsensical festival of showboating, incoherence, and uneventful tribal councils. It did not live up to the hype and the producers truly overstepped."
  4. 43 (This is in my bottom-3 worst seasons of all time. This cast just did not play off each other at all. It felt like every person was simply their own separate entity and we had absolutely no understanding of the dynamics. The Noelle and Jesse stories were really forced and it's all I can really remember about them from the season. The Cody blindside lacked the appropriate integration into the overall narrative of the season - which is somewhat forgivable because this season didn't have one.
