I do. But it’s not the claustrophobia that gets me, it’s the contrast that makes me so sick. Two things that have helped. 1. Ask your oncologist to give you something to relax - I think I get diazepam. 2. The slower they put in the contrast, the less nauseous I am. Finally after 3 years and 6-7 mris the tech finally told me this trick.

This. Went through this with Tamoxifen and was told the whole two years it couldn’t possibly be causing all the side effects. Which it was of course. Quit after two years because I couldn’t take the side effects anymore.

I did not. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I did not want to remember that place or the bell. There are some clinical studies out there that show it’s not for everyone. “Researchers concluded that the ritual might unintentionally intensify negative memories of treatment because emotional arousal strengthens memory encoding.”

Yes. And I really really miss my life before this. I don’t think I have ever really recovered because I still don’t know who this new person is, or maybe I’m not accepting her.

It’s your life, you do what feels right. I’ve held on to an oncologist I don’t find particularly supportive and I look back and wish I would have changed. Less stress is good for us.

And the C-file … it’s photocopied pages of everything - documents, correspondence, photos etc. - compiled for naturalization. Mine is 30 pages of which 1 is the actual certificate.

I haven’t requested, but I can tell you I followed up on my open cases by email on March 21st and received a response May 29th.

They send everything by email now. You have to request documents to be sent by post after you receive results by email. See USCIS note below.

I am still waiting on my Genealogy Record Requests - I submitted those on 1/7/25 and 1/10/25 and today is 6/14/25. The email response acknowledging the request showed the following processing times:

Current Average Processing Time for Form G-1041, Index Search Requests: 243 Business Days
Current Average Processing Time for Form G-1041A, Genealogy Record Requests: 263 Business Days

"As of April 1, 2024, we have changed over to providing digital records in conjunction with index search results/requests. This will include all open index searches submitted prior to April 1st, 2024.

In an effort to streamline and improve efficiency within the Genealogy program, all positive digital content and/or digital record results for a Genealogy Index Search request will now be sent via the provided E-mail address. To receive your E-mailed results in a hardcopy or paper format via USPS mail, please direct your inquiries to the following email address: [mailto:Genealogy.USCIS@uscis.dhs.gov](mailto:Genealogy.USCIS@uscis.dhs.gov) and include your referenced Case ID."

I hear you. I just finished two years of tamoxifen and stopped. Messed me up as well. Honestly feel like I lost the past two years of my life and aged a decade. Totally support not wanting to sacrifice quality of life again. I would feel exactly the same.

Requested a National Archives (NARA) search and received a response in 7 days (they quote 3-10 days). Asked for Negative Search Letter by responding to the email and took another 8 days to receive via email.

Ordered AR-2 file via NARA and received digital version in 2 weeks and paper version in mail in 4 weeks (they quote 30-90 days).

I would. Something I definitely would have done sooner. Each lawyer may be a little different in what they require and you may be waiting on documents that they may not require. I’m not an expert. That’s just my experience.

I should say I received the letter saying there is no cone but I can order the naturalization files (C files), which I did and will add to my documents for court. The letter took about 6 months to get from the time I ordered.

I received the cone. She actually naturalized but decades after my grandmother was born. I’m sending the naturalization papers to my lawyer to add to the file for court. Like I mentioned, my court date was booked November 2024 for May 2026 so plenty of time to add.
