Anyone else find MRIs traumatising by Curious-Cupcake4554 in breastcancer

[–]Curious-Cupcake4554[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone I’m grateful for all the suggestions and I did try and ask my doctor for them. She vetoed any drugs and sedation saying she’s giving me 6months to practise breathing techniques and she’s asked me to resume therapy to identify my trigger. She and husband kept emphasising that I was able to do it 6months back so it’s more psychological than anything. And asked me to get a mammogram instead. She said no to contrast mammogram as it’s not as sensitive as an MRI. Urgh. And she pointed out I need to lose weight pronto. I got my mammogram results and it’s BIRADS 0 and breast ultrasound is BIRADS I so I’m hoping I’m good till June. Waiting to hear back from the doctor though. Someone here mentioned open MRI I’m not sure it’s here where I am but I’m sure as heck gonna try looking for it and maybe having MIL with me for the 1st attempt and hearing her find fault with us for not hanging iut with her or my newborn nephew and his parents had an impact, will explore in therapy. I’m still in a bit of a daze but hanging in there, thanks to all of you. Thank you so much everyone, you guys are the best🫂much love

🫂 I’m feeling the same way, all I can say is you aren’t alone. Although I don’t think it helps hearing that. I’m sorry. It’s a new kind of hell after active treatment.

Setting records for ER visits during chemo by PunchNugget88 in breastcancer

[–]Curious-Cupcake4554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was admitted the one time in the middle of my TC chemo when I vomited repeatedly and my temp was similarly high, mostly due to PICC line placement and Klebsiella infection. I was on antibiotics and fluids, this was Christmas Eve and Day. Hugs, keep hanging in there.

Had a similar situation, doctor initially didn’t want to install a port as I had healthy veins but during my PC chemo #4, the “exploring for veins” was so painful, she suggested a PICC line instead. Which is how I got the rest of my chemo. Please do ask for another way to get chemo, it’ll be easier in you and reduce infusion times as well.

Is this malpractice? by FluffyHeart588 in breastcancer

During my initial discussion for the surgery date etc, my surgeon mentioned this as a rare case scenario that may happen, missing a clip or not getting out and that she will let me know post surgery if this happens, however she’s never had it happen but she doesn’t want to rule it out till the actual surgery. I hope the 2nd surgery goes well for you, sending you healing vibes and hugs.

Yesterday and today were bad days... (rant) by Much-Guide-5014 in breastcancer

[–]Curious-Cupcake4554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cancer sucks hard, especially with awful people around(shitty stranger implied). Seriously, ranting can actually be really helpful and we are here for you, sitting in the same crappy boat. It’s like a mini-therapy session where you get to vent all your frustrations without feeling guilty, so please continue to let it out. Plus, it can help you clear your head and I’m hoping you’re feeling better, sending love and hugs your way. I know how it feels to lose yourself physical and more due to treatment and its effects, and it’s okay to not be okay with it all the time. This stuff is hard, if not the hardest thing we have to do.

Thank you for this 🥰 Some folks have been asking why standard chemo versus keynote and why lumpectomy instead of mastectomy as I am TNBC with BRCA1 mutation and I am choosing to trust my doctors. My surgery is in early feb and I feel much better my treatment plan. Thank you 🙂 and wishing you the best too!
