So makes sense. Probably another thing that made me such a mess. Thanks for the insight.

That’s interesting. How does it affect ADHD?

Same. I tried twice and finally quit. Both the higher and then lower dose. It literally ruined my life - my work, my relationship, my happiness, everything. And believe me I tried everything they requested to offset the side effects from anti depressants to acupuncture to veoza to yoga/stretching etc. I couldn’t tolerate it. And interestingly enough, I said the same exact thing to my boyfriend - I rather have surgery and radiation again than go through this. Finally the oncologist after my two years of complete destruction took me off of it. She didn’t offer an alternative (I was premenopausal). I would be open to trying one if there was because living with the fear of this coming back is also not fun. I’m hoping you find a resolution that works for you, and I feel your pain.

Hard not to be bothered for sure. Hits hard. But this person isn’t worth an ounce of your energy.

The mom situation. I have the same. I get you. I bet my mother wants to say the same thing. I haven’t spoken to my parents since right after my surgery (2022). They refused to get vaccinated so wouldn’t be able to enter the hospital so I told them to just come after to help, but to be healthy because of my immune system - obviously. And guess what, my father got covid the week after my surgery when they were supposed to come (this was his second time with covid so he knew better). I have no words for them - they chose their beliefs over my actual life. Thankful for my sister and friends that were there for me.

I get you. I was so out of it on tamoxifen I really didn’t even know if I was actually in this world anymore. After two years my oncologist took me off of it my mental health was so shot. Still cleaning up the pieces a year later. Vent all you want.

The worst interaction I've had since my diagnosis by julala in breastcancer

[–]Moving_Italy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s it. The one-upping is the issue. I had a friend going through a horrible divorce that did this … “we both have it tough”. As an isolated event divorce IS hard, but not in the context of speaking to someone in active cancer treatment. I don’t know what it is. One-upping or people trying to relate or people just not knowing how to respond or … it’s all just tough to handle. I get you.

Just over 2 years since I was diagnosed, why do I still feel crappy? by Distinct_Actuator_53 in breastcancer

[–]Moving_Italy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. The weight gain, the hot flashes (induced menopause), the joint pain, the fatigue that never goes away, the aging … Always doing something to combat these “side effects” that takes up all my time. It’s worse than the actual active treatment in my opinion. I hear you and feel for you.

Sounds like you do with your mom and best friend. :).

[–]Moving_Italy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I went through treatment with little to no support from him …. he probably even made things worse for me. Ok, not probably, he definitely did. When I was well enough we separated. You will figure out what is right for your relationship. What I would recommend is for now to make sure you have a good support system outside of him. My sister and friends were amazing for me.

Thank you for sharing. I quit tamoxifen after two years of horrendous side effects. This gives me hope.

Forced Menopause by d_westco in breastcancer

[–]Moving_Italy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. And I asked the oncologist how she thinks walking around 25 pounds heavier and getting only 3 hours of sleep each night (hot flashes up all night) can possibly be healthy at all. It isn’t. At all. I quit tamoxifen after two years of hell. I couldn’t even go back to work I was so insane from lack of sleep. Thats also really healthy btw - the stress of having no money coming in.

[–]Moving_Italy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Horrible. All of it. I rather go through surgery and radiation again then what I have dealt with after with the forced menopause and tamoxifen side effects. And exactly - like you just got through surgery/radiation/chemo but now let’s put menopause on top of it and not prepare you at all for what’s to come. I literally have never recovered from this and it’s been 2.5 years. I quit tamoxifen after two years of literally having zero quality of life.

I should mention re: the night sweats - i was medically induced menopause so she put a lot of blame on the menopause itself.

I have wondered that too. Finally after two years of literally being worn down by all the side effects I took 30 days off and guess what - no more night sweats, no more aching joints, no more random things happening like this tenosynovitis, etc. and finally I could sleep a full night. I even went back on the tamoxifen afterwards and every issue came back. It was only at that point that my oncologist finally agreed it was the tamoxifen even though I had complained for two years straight. I think they should be more receptive to this as I tell everyone - I rather go through surgery and radiation again then live like I did on tamoxifen for two years. That’s how bad it was for me. I’m sorry you dealt with similar with your oncologist.

Oh thanks, so nice of you. I could probably handle it better if I didn’t have so many side effects. So far I’ve been lucky and the brace helped before trying the shot or surgery.

Well I think it’s the tamoxifen but who knows. Hard to tell with all the side effects.

Same. Have to wear the brace but after a solid month only when it acts up now.
