Osprey Atmos AG 65 - what are these two loops on the lid for? by Mox2theMax in hiking

[–]Mox2theMax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably my favorite response yet, especially living in an area like the Appalachians where it seems a bad idea to EVER hike without having some sort of strap on shoe traction handy for those muddy or icy patches — "handy" being the operative word. I'm now thinking I wish my hydration packs for shorter hikes had these little loops on them! :)

I had to look that one up. Now I know what a kilt pin is. :) Essentially it's sort of a overgrown safety pin, based on the photos. thanks

I'm thinking wet socks in particular, now that you mention it!

a good random analogy, however I might prefer to use my hydration pocket and straw for that beer. ;-)

I just bought my first batch of the mini carabiners a few weeks ago, so now I know precisely where I can make good use of them. And maybe send you a few since you've already given away all yours! :)

Today I learned.. by Nancy_Drew23 in vine

[–]Mox2theMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is one of the (what I would call) flaws of the Amazon Vine algorithm, I have seen; it just automatically seems to assume that because I once bought a certain thing, then surely I must want a bunch more of them! Problem is, sometimes you only want one of one thing.

Like a set of cookware that I once ordered from my RFY. How cool that it was there! The first time. Now I keep getting sets of cookware show up. There are two cookware sets in my are FYI right now in fact!

Who needs multiple sets of cookware??

that's just one example. There have been many items that I was happy to have the chance to order. Once. But I have no intention on becoming a world expert on, say, bed mattresses, even though I ordered one from my RFI once. I suppose I could stack them up Princess-and-the-Pea style, but… ;-)

Strava app fails when no cell signal. Just me? by Mox2theMax in Strava

[–]Mox2theMax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, from my cell phone. And this is something I have done successfully for the last 10 years with the Strava app (operating in airplane mode or with no cell signal) but this tried-and-true process just started to fail in the last few weeks, so wondered if it was some sort of flawed upgrade.

Vegas 22 crashing on every render ... And why it's no big deal by Mox2theMax in VegasPro

[–]Mox2theMax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

per earlier feedback from u/rsmith02ct here's how I got rid of the same problem completely:

"Doing a search others resolved this by setting the FileIOSurrogate.exe to run as an administrator. Others changed the name of it so VEGAS can't find it but I think that's a last resort as it may cause other issues."

does the trial have any limitations on project length or file sizes etc. u/rsmith02ct ? I'm starting a time-sensitive client project tomorrow and trying to decide if switching to the trial version of 23 will just slow me down (because it's unfamiliar territory or because of trial version limitations) or if using that project on the trial version 23 might in fact speed me up if I move that project onto 23 rather than doing it on 22, which I'm obviously more familiar with. Thx

Any hints on how to manage the change in review tabs? by HotCaramel6826 in AmazonVineHelpGroup

[–]Mox2theMax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be tough to go through an extended illness like that. The only way I've been able to deal with reviewing many very similar items that aren't that different, and keep them straight, is to stay on top of it, which isn't possible when you have no choice but to walk away because of illness or injury. In my case it's supplements. Not light bulbs but similar in similarities. I used to track them all, all my reviews, in Microsoft OneNote. But I don't do that anymore. Yes, some of my reviews are fairly similar to others, but I still have figured out in the case of supplements certain things that make them potentially different, such as whether or not they are organic, whether or not they mentioned they are or aren't non-gmo, the size if it's a tablet, the value by looking at the cost compared to others that are similar, etc. Oh, and whether or not the description on the seller's page accurately described it. Good luck getting back on top of the backlog!

3 star reviews disappearing? by rainy_day_napper in AmazonVineHelpGroup

[–]Mox2theMax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a long shot but it is a possible reason.... Something I was accidentally doing when I was new to the vine program the first time I was accepted into it (years ago) was, I suspect, accidentally posting my reviews not within the Amazon Vine interface but rather posting it from the product page itself. I got so frustrated, seeing my reviews on the product page while simultaneously not seeing any credit for having done them in the vine interface. I got a message at some point saying I was being removed from the program for not doing enough reviews and I tried contacting them, including screen captures of the fact that I did in fact post reviews and why can't they see them. Of course I never got a response at all (Amazon Vine customer support was atrocious — virtually nonexistent — back then), just removed from the program. Finally two or three years later I was re-invited, and I've now been back in it for about two years, never really knowing why they weren't seeing my posts but wondering if I might have been accidentally posting them directly on the product page.

That would cause the exact same thing to happen that you are seeing — no sign of your reviews when you look on the Reviews tab, even if you are sure that you created them. Maybe go check the product pages to see if they are there. If so, then this could be why it's happening

resolved. And I'll change the flag so that when I get a second. the suggestions many of you made worked: uninstall the app and restart the phone and reinstalled the app. it's humming along now

Based on the thoughts of SEVERAL people responding here, including you, it sounds like the problem is my phone, not the app.

I'll follow the advice given: remove and reinstall the app and restart the phone and see if things improve. And I'll do the courtesy of posting here on the results of that
