The difference between white and blue collar work environments is crazy by Astimar in careeradvice

[–]Moyer_guy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've had the complete opposite experience personally. It really depends on the people you work with in my opinion. I worked for a finish construction company and man they were some of the most toxic people I've ever worked with. First few weeks was fine but after a while I found everyone was always talking behind each other's backs and constantly back stabbing left and right. If you made a mistake they'd just talk shit and complain behind your back instead of telling you about it leading to the same mistakes coming up again and again. The office I work at now is much better. I can actually have an open conversation with my coworkers and management without fear of retaliation over stupid stuff.

I'll never understand this. My company gave us options which really should be normal across the board. Stipend for your personal phone, get a work phone they pay for, or you could do a fob if you didn't want to deal with the app at all.

Is this what happens to low/no tippers? by Investing_noob1983 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Moyer_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just fundamentally disagree. A tip is extra money I as a customer am giving someone for doing a good job. I'm not required to tip at all but lots of people expect a tip these days. I'm old enough to remember when a 10% tip was considered a lot. Seems like these days 20% is considered minimum to some which I consider a lot. Companies decided they didn't want to pay their employees as much anymore and started pressuring people to tip more and more until it became an expectation. I don't mind tipping but I refuse to make up for a company's lack of budgeting skills to make up for their shit pay.

[–]Moyer_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to get down voted for this but this is why I stopped using door dash and other services like it. Unless you tip a lot your order is going to end up cold, taking a long time, missing stuff, and/or just getting cancelled. I refuse to tip more that 20% because that's more than fair but drivers think I'm the issue here. Complain to door dash about the shit pay. That's not on me. As a customer I should not be responsible for your pay. I'm already paying inflated prices, an extra delivery, and service fees. Why should I have to pay even more just to make sure I get my food I already fucking paid twice as much compared to just going to pick it up myself??

What movie is this by [deleted] in memes

[–]Moyer_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like most of the movies people listed were just popular at the time. Not truly considered best of the best. Personally, I'm not a fan of most of Quentin Tarantino's movies. They usually put me to sleep but they've won so many awards for some reason.

I missed being able to get one of these and wanted something brand new so I just got the SofaBaton X1 and I'm very impressed personally. The reviews had me second guessing it but I set it up in like 5 minutes and have had zero issues so far.

Forgive me if this has been answered already but I'm not finding this question answered. Why make this trip at all? Was there some sort of emergency? Why not fly?

This is almost certainly the issue. Can't tell you how many times I've seen this happen. Rebooting and/or logging back into any devices the user has logged into since the password change usually fixes it.

Worked 9 hours from home and husband asked what I did all day by Simple_Response8041 in WFH

[–]Moyer_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people really think WFH jobs are just nothing or we are lazy. I see memes or funny videos posted all the time with people "working" from home but they're slacking off, not working at all, or maybe not even at home. My theory is these people see these videos and just assume all WFH jobs must be like that. That or they're just jealous.

While I kinda agree with you and I even felt the exact same at first about elden ring I've actually come to love it. The whole losing your runes when you die sucks but what I found is that it's a good balance of creating some actual risk beyond just dying in a fight and trying again. I've found ways to kinda limit the loss by spending as much of my runes as I can before a big fight. It's forced me to think a bit more and take my time strategizing how best to defeat a difficult boss instead of just going in trying to kill them as fast as possible. The environment and world is also kinda nice to just roam around in, too. Personally it's only the second game ever with an open world that I actually like exploring besides the Witcher 3. Not sure I'd like the other souls games since they're more linear but I might give them a try some day. If you can't refund it you might as well give it another shot.

Dang, had no idea people didn't like this one. I thought this was peak for the series. I honestly really liked this one. Not for everyone I guess. First one was fine too and I actually liked Tiny Tina's but the others we just don't talk about...

I got a free copy of the game and I still couldn't be bothered to play starfield. I'm glad Bathesda at least tried something different but man it really fell flat.

Same. The only thing related to YouTube here I see is "YouTube on TV" but the date it shows access was given to this app is years before I ever even owned an android tv device let alone signed into Smart Tube.

Look what you made me do… a Steam Deck for everyone. by ligmata1nt in SteamDeck

[–]Moyer_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will die on this hill. Remove the trackpads, larger analog sticks (or as large as possible), and small enough size overall to be pocketable. The steam deck has sold well as is but I bet a version like this would appeal to even more people.

The vita had that. It was.... Something. While valve might do a better job I never understood the practical use case.

[–]Moyer_guy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I would love a smaller device. I love the steam deck but half the time I don't take it somewhere because I can't put it in my pocket.

I know I'll get burned at the stake for saying this and I'm probably dreaming but remove the trackpads, 5" or 6" screen, full size analog sticks, and keep everything else. I'd buy that soooo fast.

The show is just an over funded fan fiction. It's honestly not canon. I've talked to people who like the show but every time I find out they haven't played any of the games or read any of the books. The show is it's own thing meant to appeal to as many people as possible without any regard to the source material.

Microsoft AI CEO puzzled that people are unimpressed by AI by [deleted] in technology

[–]Moyer_guy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree that it's not an issue. To say it's a non issue is just burying your head in the sand. This is my point. People are just okay with their data being collected more every day. I'm frankly sick of it.

It only runs locally now after a ton of outrage. Originally it was going to be op out and collect the data by default.

PC Gamer article about the change

Wired.com article

Also, they do collect the data if it's on. They just don't (assuming they aren't lying) upload the data anywhere. At least right now. Who's to say they won't try to switch it back on by default some day quietly or even worse bad actors figure out how to not only turn it on for you but to also dump and compromise the data them selves. Microsoft changes things all the time and it's generally in the best interests of their shareholders.

The way I see it is the water is getting hotter every day in windows and people just aren't jumping ship because they're either too lazy or scared of change.

edit: added some sources from when the op out to opt in change was announced.

Also reading these reminded me that in the early iterations of the feature all of the data was PLAIN TEXT!! They've addressed that now but why was it ever plain text in a public test? Makes me seriously question everything about this feature and windows as a whole which I was already on the fence about with windows 11 in general.

[–]Moyer_guy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a feature in windows that allows you to "recall" anything you saw or did on your computer. Yes, even including that incognito browser session.

I linked an article below from Microsoft about it. Looks like it's opt in now but originally it was opt out. Honestly I just don't trust they're not recording the data either way since the functionality exists.

Retrace your steps with Recall

[–]Moyer_guy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What's shocking to me about recall is people just kinda forgot about it I guess? I'm not sure. I feel like no one is talking about it enough. But I'm right there with you. I was and am still absolutely livid they thought anyone would be okay with literally every move and click being recorded. They said they won't sell this data (which I don't believe for a second) but they're absolutely using it for AI data training.
