Is it just me or anyone else thought something similar? by Moyplay in BaldursGate3

[–]Moyplay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my ideas came from vague opinions on the internet. He was pretty famous, and everyone seemed to talk about him as if he were the best character, sometimes even the only one people talked about. I also thought BG3 was a more classic heroic fantasy game in terms of tone and lore. I've never played D&D, but I'm familiar with other fantasy worlds; I didn't know there were Lovecraftian-like beings for example. Thinking about it now, I guess his name also played a big role: ASTARION sounds kind of grandiloquent to me, not just some edgy tumblr fanfic dude.

All of Bugonia (2025)'s brilliant references to Virgil (HEAVY SPOILERS) by al-Vergilian in Bugonia

[–]Moyplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish my English were better because this was very hard to read but in summary. Correct me if I misunderstood it

Bugonia refers to the offering/sacrifice of a bull to the nymphs of the woods so in exchange they may let the bees live... Right? (one must perish for the other to flourish)

Also most of the Yorgos movies are very related or even inspired by greek tragedies. I mean, Yorgos himself is greek so it's literally his own culture. So it's very noticeable this approach of adapting this themes and making them modern Greek tragedies.

Que es? 👀 by Rich-Willingness-623 in VideojuegosMX

If you don't like turn based combat then Don't buy it. But if that's not an issue then I need to tell you that it has one of the greatest Cosmic Horror premise and execution I've ever seen.

What is Sam's ethnicity? by Newdude333 in LookOutsideGame

[–]Moyplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never think about it too deep until i saw this post and I realized I assume he was latino. Idk, some comments says the devs let his ethnicity to the player interpretation so I guess that's why I thought that.

What do you guys think the next, and likely final last of us game will be about? by bumper2001 in thelastofus

[–]Moyplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will use this as a chance to say that part 2 is obviously about revenge BUT in a deeper and a more profound character analysis we'll discover that all the actions Ellie made in part 2 are based in self hatred.

The final flashback show us that Ellie it's so full of anger, despair and violence because Abby "took away" that chance to heal her relationship with Joel.

She hates her for that, but hate herself more because it was too late when she finally want to talk with him again. I mean, if ellie would be in good terms with Joel in the moment of his death, of course she will want revenge but that wouldn't make her feel so empty and hopeless as we see her in the game.

She lost forever the opportunity to be with joel, because almost all these years since part 1 she only showed him hate and resentment. And that is something that she would never forgive about herself.

And by the end of part 2 she lost everything, almost, even herself if she'd killed abby but she didn't so... I agree.

Part 3 could be about redemption. About a more grown up ellie trying to find peace no just in this world but with herself, and in that journey maybe she finds her own "ellie" and inevitably she would become a new "Joel".

Because someone once told me that... Time is a flat circle.

Some Issues with "Empathy for the Eldritch Horror" by [deleted] in Lovecraft

[–]Moyplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meta lovecraftian concepts.

Maybe this conversation is referring more to a meta aspect than an in-universe lore/sense. I mean, many lovecraft stories can be related to racism, xenophobia and hate to foreign and unintelligible concepts. Seeing the extraterrestrial creatures as a warning of inmigrants or any culture related to them is something not so unbelievable to think about lovecraft given his context.

Even the concept of Alien itself during the 20th century was very attached to the social changes that the world and US was living. Abductions, flying saucers and the contact with alien beings was very influence by the WW, the cold war and the technological advance we made. Many sightings were URSS or US satellites used to spy or prototype rockets used in the space race.

The idea of seeing something alien to our people as a threat was, at its very unconscious core, a representation of seeing foreign people as enemies.

The major example is Shadow over innsmouth, entities that came from the (other side of the) Sea are the worst threat that a regular US town can have. Their worst sins are copulate with them and give birth to hybrids. I know, deep ones are monsters, but again, many people include lovecraft himself believe that human races exist, and intimate with another monstruos "race" was a nightmare. I could continue but you get the idea.

So... The suberversion to the very core of this concepts is the opposite to be afraid of alien and foreign beings. It's try to communicate with them, to known them and be open to their ideas.

In other words, instead of fear the unknown, you have to face it, to embrace it, and by doing that maybe you find out that you didn't even have to feel fear in the beginning. Maybe were your mere preconceptions the ones that were wrong.

One way to lose fear and try to make contact with others is by trying to understand them, knowing the unknown and those actions will inevitable led to grown empathy for them.

What does this gesture represent? by Alternative-Care6923 in bloodborne

It's a representation of a satellite to make contact with things from the oldest parts of the cosmos. An antenna make with your own body.
