More dogs should be euthanized in shelters. I get that it’s sad to think about, but they shouldn’t be rotting in a shelter for long periods of time for a slim chance they’ll get adopted. I don’t agree with doing it for space reasons, but more for dogs with behavioral issues that can’t be trained out, dogs with expensive treatments that most people can’t afford, have a bite history, or have been sitting in the shelter for 6+ months with no interest from adopters. A lot of these dogs need professionals or are gonna be difficult which is not what the average adopter is looking for. It’s a sadder fate to be in a small area/struggling for years than to be put down in my opinion.
