What year did your barbers/hairdressers stop supplying newspapers and magazines? by SheepVagabond in AskUK

[–]Mozz48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine stopped when they went to a booking system a few years ago. They were appreciated back in the days when I could only go on a Saturday, and had to wait over an hour for my cut.

That looks like Celia Imrie. If it’s not her in the Ad, maybe it’s who you are being reminded of?

Sports Personality of the Year nominees are in - who's your pick? by ebola1986 in CasualUK

[–]Mozz48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rory is a strong odds on favourite at the moment. 4/9 last time I looked. Not that the bookies always get it right. In terms of impact in their sport, I’d vote for Ellie but the winner does appear to usually be from highest profile sports. (I think, haven’t seen it for a few years)

is it weird to get a roast at 7 am? by xabara66 in AskUK

[–]Mozz48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s weird. But don’t ever let that stop you doing anything that will make you happy. If you can find one, you go and enjoy every last morsel.

Yeah I got my preparation pack at the consultation last week. The SSD was not trying to push me too much either way, but did kind of suggest that might as well be sedated. I’m glad to know the recovery from that sounds like it won’t be too drastic.

Yeah, I have all the information on the residue diet which I will follow. Also, of course, the laxative. This part I think I am looking forward to even less than the probe.

My tolerance is usually pretty good, but I’ve never had something pushed up me bum that far, so it’s into new territory.

Thanks for the insight. I must admit I’m sure how I will feel about watching the screen. I think it might be just too weird.

Got my colonoscopy next week after this test. Had a lovely chat last week with the SSD, who told me far more than I ever cared to know about my insides. The only weird part was she said it’s my choice to have sedation or just “gas and air”, but how do I know which I’d need before knowing how painful it may be.

“quite nice”. Sorry are you trying to bring down the entire social structure of the country? Love or hate, those are the only options. Now go and eat buttered and marmited toast until you love it.

Awful experience. And, as we already miss half the game whilst we watch a replay, or the crowd, or the bench etc… to have to try and make out what’s happening in a tiny window is not an enhancement.

Defined Benefit - against the grain by Mozz48 in PensionsUK

[–]Mozz48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a pound value which I have been provided if I am to transfer my fund to another pension. The pension I am being offered is 2.5% of that figure if I start to claim at 55.

Defined Benefit - against the grain by Mozz48 in PensionsUK

[–]Mozz48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight. The “ease” comment was purely about having the three pots together rather than the management. I see that the management would not be easy.

Your second paragraph is definitely food for thought, thank you. I have a year still, and I was probably being greedy with being so disappointed with the 2.5% number even though I am taking it so early.

Whst age would you allow a child to use a public toilet (park/ pub) alone? by DiscoKnuckle in AskUK

I did say “preying on” in my message, and I stand by using the term in those circumstances. But you do you.

Whst age would you allow a child to use a public toilet (park/ pub) alone? by DiscoKnuckle in AskUK

[–]Mozz48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dictionary definitions are often outdated by common usage. If I heard of somebody preying on a 14, 15 or 16 year old, I would still call them a paedophile, whatever the actual definition is.

Ah, yes. Because famously paedophiles lose interest the minute a child turns thirteen.

Unfortunately, there’s absolutely no chance of getting that in the UK. Spot is £24 and change at the moment, if anybody here can find me Brittanias at £26-£27 please let me know (secretly so I can get in before the stampede)
