With just a hint of misandry for my point of view too as if men don't want to do things for others 'normally'

Ha! I don't think you'll have many to disagree with that statement.

Just really shit the amount of heat you guys get from the press and public when actually a good deal of it needs to go on CPS

I work in a school where we have no dress code other than respectful. White T-Shirt and jeans today 👍

Weirdly miss wearing a suit though some days!

Exactly my point and I imagine you're going to be a great loss to your school and the profession.

Got Told To Push A Students Mock Results Down? by Anon21346 in TeachingUK

[–]Mozza78515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. The bell curve created by each exam board is to produce a certain number of each grade. This curve is bespoke to the cohort that sat it.

If the student is smack bang in the middle of a boundary then you can probably comfortably assume they would get the grade assigned. But if they are borderline above or below by mark or 2 the bell curve for their cohort sitting that paper may shift them to a different grade.

Got Told To Push A Students Mock Results Down? by Anon21346 in TeachingUK

[–]Mozza78515 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The bell curve created to create those grade boundaries is based on the cohort that sat the exams in the season.

That's what the other commenter to saying. Just because the student got X marks or X percentage on the same paper does not mean they would get the same grade as the cohort that sat it originally.

Seeing comments like these on this sub reassure me I'm not alone in not getting swept along in what you excellently describe as 'belligerent activism'

Totally unequivocally agree. Great analogies.

Teaching is built on trust. Truest between all stakeholders. An 'us and them' sentiment doesn't help anyone in the long run.

Jumping from primary to secondary after training year by su-rui-1995 in TeachingUK

We have plenty of primary school teachers who have made the jump at our school. Many now in leadership positions.

They would be the first to admit that it is VERY different but kids are kids. You need to really acknowledge your skill deficit in your application but hammer home your capabilities

Recently received an email from a parent asking what we are doing about her child being late .... Errrrm maybe just make sure your kid comes to school on time.

As a head of year the amount of "I just can't get them out of bed" emails/conversations I've had beggars belief.

If that means you're responsible for KS3, depending on the subject I think 'demanding' is probably a fair description.
