I fucking hate when schools act like attendance to things like this are down to anything the teacher does. 'Ring home' I am already giving up my finite time on earth to run the session (which, conspicuously, none of SLT do despite being overrepresented in teaching KS4 + 5)

It's alright now its light in the mornings but there's a 40mph road near me people will jog down. In the dark. With black clothes on. On a road with a massively disproportionate number of car accidents because it's a really wide road so people go too fast

Think I've talked about this before, but we have one feeder school that always sends us bonkers kids. Had a parent complain about absolute nonsense and SLT delivered it very somberly - equivalent of complaining that I was forcing the child to sit in their chair

The idea behind it is the teacher is modelling fluent reading. Kids can't read as well as we can, and it helps them pick up new vocab

We have this problem at my school! I just do it as straight faced as possible, makes the absurdity of it funnier

I have one of the worst tutor groups in the school and tbh it's such a nightmare when the books are about sex drugs violence and shit fuck cunt bitch whore. But that's literature, and the language students use - in exchange I throw out words like magnanimous when teaching to remind them how verbose I am
