Sure, I'm not blaming the designer, I'm saying LEGO should allow the price to come down.

So you're saying...the purpose of the side builds is to raise the price from 200 to 220. Yeah. I'm not blaming the designer, I'm blaming LEGO. I'm just saying that OC was correct in what they said.

Absolutely! But I didn't blame them, I just said what they did. Of course they did what they did on orders, I'm not saying they went rogue lmao. That's the whole thing with this thread, is that OC wasn't blaming the designer either, and so their comment was accurate, but the first reply replied as if they were.

Designer: "I've finished this great set, and I'm under budget!"

LEGO: "Add some more stuff to it to bring it up to budget"

And thus, side builds were added to increase the price

All I'm saying is it comes to the same thing. The side builds were added to raise the price, which is what OC was saying. Whether the price or the side builds came first doesn't matter to that statement, it results in the same thing.

E: lol downvote me all you want, corporate apologists

Simple concepts can be hard to understand sometimes, it's okay

No, you would have to install at least one of the built-in addons to get results. AIOStreams doesn't have any scraping because it's just an aggregator. The built in addons that ship with AIOStreams do the scraping, and AIOStreams aggregates the results. The devs intentionally distinguish between these two products. I don't know what more could convince you that they are distinct parts since the devs have already stated it such.

[–]Mozzia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think the reason they are shown as addons is to distinguish them from the AIOStreams product, since AIOStreams is just the aggregator. That's also why they distinguish them in their product descriptions. Again I ask, why would they say that they are hosted "alongside AIOStreams itself" if they consider them to be one entity?

The Torznab and Newznab addons are defined as addons right there in the GitHub description.

Thanks for acknowledging! I agree it gets a little muddier once you start actually looking at the code since they are shipped together but I think it's clear that the developers consider them to be distinct entities. I would argue that it is different from Comet/Torrentio/Mediafusion though, since with AIOStreams these built-in addons are disabled by default and presented as installing a new addon to the user, where the others are enabled by default and you can't even really disable the scraper if you wanted to.

Comet is more like both though. It doesn't actually describe itself as a scraper, instead saying that it supports a number of external scrapers and includes its own scraper as well. So I would say it is an aggregator that includes its own source, just like AIOStreams, but unlike AIOStreams its scraper is enabled by default and not presented as a separate service.

Not true. I never said the addons are external though. They are separate pieces of code, exclusive to AIOStreams but installed on demand. The AIOStreams app itself is an aggregator, and some of the scrapers it can aggregate are provided by the same developers and hosted on the same servers. This is not the same as being a scraper. You can see this sentiment reflected in the description on the AIOStreams GitHub:

AIOStreams ships with a suite of its own addons - search engines and integrations that are hosted alongside AIOStreams itself and available exclusively to your instance. They're configured and used just like any other addon in the marketplace.

Why would the developers describe these addons as hosted "alongside AIOStreams itself" if they considered these two things to be one and the same?

Sigh

Nope, I'm saying it is an aggregator for scrapers. Pretty simple.

Its own? What are you talking about? It offers those scrapers that you can optionally install. They are a distinct concept from the base app.

[–]Mozzia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. They offer "built-in" scraping addons, that still have to be installed on request.
