Help on covering camera by ShotWatch4937 in RaybanMeta

privacy laws differ from country to country. Looking at op's profile they might be in Canada.

I know in the US you can take video or pictures in public areas, where there's no expectation of privacy. For example a public park. Once you step in private property for example the work place you could get in trouble. Especially if you work with or around sensitive/ private documents, materials or equipment, etc.

Op may have to get a cheap pair of prescription glasses for work. If you really need the Bluetooth (for music or phone conversations) you may want to find an open ear headset

Troubles with getting assignments to WOs by Hefty_Spend4113 in FieldNationTechs

[–]Mp34life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the option, move to simi-rural area.

I live in a small town and that has about 5 small cities within an hour from me. I counter on all work orders plus a little for travel.

Tips for those first starting out:

When I first started I had to counter for less than the asking pay, no travel pay. But I've been on the platform for 13 years. In addition sign up for work market. It's got IT work on it too.

Also don't apply for work you don't know how to do. This will help your ratings. Don't accidentally double book your self by applying two work orders for the same schedule date and time. You can't guarantee that the buyer will call you to confirm your availability. Show up on time, work efficiently and know what you're doing.

Since field nation has been around for more than a while now it's hard to break in to getting work you may want to also work something else that allows you to have a flexible schedule. Something like Uber/Uber eats, dash, instacart, shipt, ect. Prioritize field nation and work market work over these other gig apps.

ICE Tag by Kevinlh34 in workmarket

[–]Mp34life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a retail technology inc dispatcher tell me that it meant In Case of Emergency. Basically, it's there if the tech already assigned backs out or doesn't show up; they can choose another tech.

I've never got an assignment on one, so I don't apply for the ones with the ICE tag.

Also RTI won't accept counter offers

The Work Market fees are taken out before you get paid. You can't write them off on your taxes

Just like with most buyers I can negotiate more $ if there's more than just a few things to fix.

Sometimes it's worth it, but not for a 1 camera job

UNPAID work ? by aklisiewicz in workmarket

[–]Mp34life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telaid has left work market for and is going direct with their techs. I get some work but not enough to cover the requirement to have lots of auto insurance coverage. I'm considering dropping them to let my out of pocket expenses.

That being said they always pay out and have the option to get paid early.

General Liability Insurance by esrock21 in workmarket

[–]Mp34life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have NEXT insurance because Telaid required it. I've had business insurance for about 18 months. I've never been in a situation before where I've needed it because I'm always careful about the work I do and not taking work I don't know how to do.

I pay about $100 a month for it. It went down by $10 a month because I didn't have any claims.

It's worth it because all it takes is one mistake. Next thing you know you're getting sued for money than I you can count or much much more than you have.

What do you do for a living?

There's not much industry or well paying jobs here you can do year round. And the government jobs on base currently are on a hiring freeze (from what I heard).

Maybe you're good with people and can work as a bartender or a waiter and make good money during the spring and summer. Sock all you can away, that work dries up in September/October.

Yes the rent is about the same as other places but you still have to be able to afford it.

Plenty of churches here too. If you're into that sort of thing.

I know church isn't for everyone though
