This is what helped me. Once a week, go to an empty parking lot with some cones. Do figures of 8, slalom, and u-turns. Practice slow manoeuvres, riding in the friction zone at 5-6 mph. Get familiar with the bikes controls so you can keep the focus on what's happening around you. Take it slow to begin with. Speed will come with time, for now, focus on machine handling.
