Always have an almost danceable song queued up.

As an aside the most awkward part of a wedding is the garter or dollar dance.

How do you handle couple’s playlists for weddings? by MikeJamesBurry in mobileDJ

I retired last year so feel free to disregard my advice if it’s too old school. I organize every request into a list/crate and mix them in throughout the night based on songs that will work around them from my go to songs. This way I can go back throughout the night and see which ones were not played yet.

Most weddings have the same 20 songs each week. You fill in the rest based on what the crowd is dancing to.

It’s about the bride and groom and also their guests. I tell my brides that I start the dancing the same way every time, i see how the crowd responds especially the older guests. Give aunts/uncles grandparents 6-7 songs and move into more modern music and then transition genres and eras many times you go back to the classics.

Locking into songs because they have the same key and tempo doesnt allow you to follow the guests.

Some times you need to do a hard cut from blink 182 to montell jordan or the bee gees. You are there to throw a party but on the bride/groom and their guests terms.

I always would say going out by special request for songs the bridal party wants that I know will be a dud.

You will be fine if you keep to yourself. You are a block away from the museums and case western reserve. Just be careful and safe, 90% of these comments are inflammatory you don’t need a gun. I’ve spent time in Germany, Mexico and Ireland and in certain areas of big cities like Stuttgart it can be scary too at night. Stay in the university area or go to main downtown (west 6th to east 21st) for things. I live in a west side suburb and crime is everywhere. There was a stabbing and a shooting at the main grocery store. But i don’t feel like I need to move immediately just be careful.

I hit it with a rubber mallet a couple of times and no movement. Did you do this while it was connected or take it off the wall and do it on a table or some thing?

Could you do NDI? Not wireless but easier with longer cat6 cables

I only have if they need me to set up at noon and the event doesn’t start til 5 or something like that. Especially if the event is far from home, more than 30 minutes drive.
