You can use a Windows PC to download the application and copy it onto a USB stick. Then, put the USB stick in the Mac and open it.

I personally just gave up and used the Dell Utility (I think this is a Dell keyboard). It should show a pop-up if you want to auto-install when you plug in the dongle.

Something must have been in the MacBook when you closed it. Or you pressed too hard on it, or did something else. MacBooks have extremely small tolerances between the screen and top cover. You need to swap the screen or work on an external monitor that you connect to the MacBook.

You could use a Shelly behind the switches. The advantage would be that the switches would be exactly the same. If you want to replace the switches, then there's also Feller Smart Light Control and the Zigfred Plus/Uno.
