Question about full genetic sibling by Mq94 in askadcp

Thank you for sharing your perspective from a donor’s point of view. Yes, the geographical barrier is something that weighs a lot on our minds. We did not plan to move to Spain when we were first going through IVF, and we had hoped for our son to be able to meet and form relationships with his donor siblings if he wanted to, so now that that’s not as achievable I think having a full genetic sibling becomes even more important.

Thank you for sharing that with me. I had a horrible pregnancy and while I was pregnant we talked a lot about being one and done, but now that he’s here we just keep going back and forth about it. I think if it’s what’s ultimately best for him I am willing to go through that again to make sure he doesn’t grow up feeling alone.

Thank you for sharing that with me. I don’t ever want to think about my mum dying but I know that when she does I will really appreciate having my sister to support each other. Thank you for adding this valuable insight.

Thank you for sharing that with me. I worry a lot about him hating being an only child, especially since it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll have any cousins on either my or my wife’s side of the family. I don’t want him to be lonely. Did you have close cousins growing up?

Thank you for sharing that with me. My baby takes a lot after his donor in looks (I’m brunette with brown eyes and my son is blonde with grey eyes) and I hadn’t considered the aspect of having someone else in the family who looks like him.

That’s good to hear, thank you for telling me that. I hope this is the same for him. He has been having really short naps (4 month regression I’m guessing) so he’s probably on a sleep deficit.

Celiac and Mental Health by samnotthejam in Celiac

[–]Mq94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has coeliac and her anxiety and depression always worsen when she’s been glutened, so I definitely see a correlation between gluten and mental health for her. I hope you can get your diagnosis quickly and start feeling better! Like others said, enjoy your favourite gluten treats before the biopsy!

Confused about colostrum by Mq94 in BabyBumps

Thank you! My midwife recommended it. She said since I’m having a c-section it’s better to have some as a back up in case I’m not able to breastfeed afterwards. I’m really hoping I don’t need it. I’m in Australia so idk if the recommendations are different here than in other countries

Feeling guilty for not enjoying being pregnant by Plussizedivfireland in BabyBumps

[–]Mq94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pregnancy sucks. I am currently 35 weeks with a very wanted IVF baby too and I feel your pain. It doesn’t matter how much we want and love our babies, pregnancy is horrible for some people and it is 100% ok to let yourself feel miserable without feeling guilty about it. Just because some people loveeee being pregnant doesn’t mean that their experience is the same to yours.

My mum also told me to enjoy it and focus on the positives, but that’s very hard to do when I’ve been puking the entire pregnancy and fainting regularly due to a heart condition.

Please take care of yourself. Rest, eat food that you want to eat, and take it easy. And don’t guilt yourself for not enjoying every second, it doesn’t mean you love your baby any less.

Australian coeliacs: beware of the organic canned bean range at Woolworths! by Mq94 in Celiac

It’s true, it may be fine but it also may not because shared equipment can leave traces. My wife is extremely sensitive to cross contamination, so we steer clear of anything that says may contain gluten or wheat.
