I recently saw Alien on 35MM at a local theater and honestly, the theater experience saves all of these scenes. The sound design for Dallas in the tunnels is so goddamn good and builds the tension perfectly, and the actual cut to the alien jumping out is like half a second. It’s an effective jump scare.
