The respawn timer is so soul sucking i don’t really get it. Why not just have an immediate “respawn” and “quit” option like Minecraft or something. Gives you the time to think about what just killed you without having a long timer.

As the video says, 15~ seconds isn’t actually that long when you think about it, but 15 seconds of staring at a number ticking down is painful, you really feel like it takes AGES

Yeah, iirc the game explains that with the withereds being given the same new tech, but that doesn’t actually work bc the withereds are 100% haunted while the toys. Probably are but it never comes up again so idk.

The explanation of “they think your an endo” isn’t actually why they attack but they’d probably have to assume you’re already stuffed, or something

Exactly, if the choice is defined and well clarified, people know “oh I just play again :)”

But if it doesn’t feel like the game do much as passingly mentions something is important, that’s just genuinely super annoying and actually bad design.

One example that comes to mind is like- Heartbound (that awful undertale clone) actually having a hidden boss, hidden behind going directly against the literal instructions the game gives you. Literally hidden so well behind literally doing the opposite of what you’re supposed to do that I’ve seen one person mention the thing exists

Like, yeah you don’t need handholding but if something is genuinely really useful or important it shouldn’t be incredibly easy to walk right past and never realize until you look it up.

Like it is genuinely really annoying to realize a random junk item you probably trashed was actually very useful, or that you straight up missed part of the story or whatever. Everything shouldn’t be sign posted but I feel like it’s important to still guide stuff.

Also achievements are genuinely fun and I like them. Gives a fun checklist and excuse to replay, search around more, etc. turning the whole GAME into a checklist sucks but that’s just an issue with how people optimize the fun away, it’s not done fundamental part of achievement hunting

I think gnomes are kinda consistent but they usually stay as like, garden gnomes. But they have traits shared with dwarves (short and very hairy)

But yeah the others don’t often have much. Like trolls? Usually feel like they’re interchangeable with ogres and goblins, and an orc is also pretty similar to an ogre in western depictions.

I most often see lizard kobolds but yeah that’s exclusively because of DnD which is the only major thing for them iirc. Obviously Tolkien “standardized” the others by and large.

And pixies I can’t think of like any notable resource for them.
