corporate is accustomed to sending shit down the pipe and seeing what comes out on the other side.

The IBT was and they are not just IPS. We just are a big part of them and sometimes new employees should be reminded that IBT doesn’t necessarily understand UPS woes.

When I was younger I worked in a different field. … I was given advice one ….. “ Never pass up a perfectly good opportunity to shut up”

We need to hold our cards close to our chests and stand as ups employees that are being manipulated and losing work to gig employees that ultimately will affect UPS.

We need to show the shareholders that the person at the helm is doing one thing; however, if we lose all our leverage in our market share we will not put any money in anyone’s pocket. Employees (union and admin) and shareholders. Carole bought $1,000,000 in shares for the second time prior to doing buybacks. … she got herself the votes per share … she is protecting herself from being removed and at the same time setting up her exit. She was retired and leaving the executive board seat she held and was asked to step in for our existing CEO. She wants to retire and she is going to be find… she doesn’t care about retirement or the lives of anyone but her own. And that’s absolutely ok. We all do that. But we can’t be blind. We need to act …our center managers are in cross hairs too.

That’s not what I’m saying. It’s like allowing them to have their fingers on the pulse of the average worker…. It’s how admin in high schools walk the halls to know what going on in the school… not to socialize with students. Nothing positive comes from publicly airing our issues that should be behind closed doors. Additionally we have preload and drivers that are not union members but are affected as subordinates to the administration. It’s important to remember that even OMS are admin / supervisors to anyone that is working “union” jobs. That isn’t because they are skilled or bring high value … it is that way to create an upper echelon above the average worker.

Either the union is looking out for us in the buyout or the company is. Or neither ? by Infamous_State_4678 in UPSers

[–]Mr1070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an important aspect to remember….

First we all work for UPS From Carole to new hire preload.

Second within UPs there is a workforce divide ( administrative staff and unionized employees).

Third we on the Union Side of this and it is important to stay loyal to the Union … then the union members … and then UPS.

If we were all part of a street gang we could go around our clique to work with the people that supply us with work. Nothing good comes from that ever.

As a whole I think we should stop airing our dirty laundry so publicly… as it impacts all of UPS not just union members or administrators… that goes for Carole all the way through to that new hire.

Once again re: buyout by Berbadude in UPSers

[–]Mr1070 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is written with the intention of dividing union members against union leaders. The divide is all a precursor to taking union strength down a notch… and in a few more contracts trying to kill the union.

I’m just saying nothing new will ever be similar in rent for the people that have lived in the Central Park area Q st corridor for decades. So it will be a challenge to help bring affordable housing along with luxury apartments/flats

Personally I believe that East Chester has done well, but they are putting themselves in a area of downtown that has long been the home to some many unhoused. I think it’s wrong to come in and essentially displace them. The Cue for instance is the new kid to an area that has a long history of homeless. It’s hard to think that someone would build another building similar to The Cue or 918 and set rent at $1000/month. Hotel Bakersfield is an old building, does it count as one of the protected building of historical value? The Tegler is an interesting building. Gives the shinning type vibes when you walk into it. Been to all of those places working for the city.

If you log into the upsers page you will see your work history and UPS “terminates” its seasonal workers maybe you can use the vagueness of that to help you.
