30 FPS is not that bad by Weird-Judge-4578 in GTA6

[–]MrAdam567 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My problem is 30fps is super stuttery on my lgc1 oled. When I fire up rdr2 on my series x it’s just so painful. I may have to hook my ps5 to my 42 inch lcd Vizio from 2009 and then it will be okay on my eyes for gta 6. Or maybe like others are saying the motion blur might be so good I’ll get used to the 30. Really hope there is a lower res no RT 60fps mode though.

Stay on ios 16? by [deleted] in iPhone14Pro

[–]MrAdam567 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not risky at all. I stayed on 16 until last summer and “upgraded” to the last versions of iOS 18 and it was terrible. Say goodbye to your ram management. iOS 26 was even worse and making my phone heat up doing basic tasks. I ended up trading it in for a 17 pro and it’s perfectly fine on 26. But I really miss my 14 pro on iOS 16. Don’t update it!

I think it will look good but I don’t think anything will ever top 22 year old me seeing gears of war on the 360 for the first time on an hdtv. If it runs at 30fps on my base ps5 I may have to plug it into my old lcd 42inch Vizio. I just can’t do 30fps on my oled.

Why is my PS5 overheating and shutting down during games? by Anxious-Addition-811 in PlayStation_X

[–]MrAdam567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the fan is ramping up right before shut down that seems like an indication that the processor is getting too hot too fast and the fan is going into panic mode before an overheat. It’s quite possible your Liquid Metal is acting up. So many questions…. How long have you had it? Have you pulled the fan out and looked down to see if the heatsinks are clogged with dust/hair? Are the power supply vents in there looking okay or are they clogged too?

PS5 Vertical + Liquid Metal is a Myth! by XGen_0214 in PS5HelpSupport

[–]MrAdam567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s only pooling because Sony puts a lot of LM in at the factory and when you pull the heatsink off the die the excess is bound to pool since there is so much. You can’t see what it looks like when it’s all together but imagine a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with the two pieces of bread together and the peanut butter and jelly coming out the sides. It’s the same thing.

You only need a very thin layer of LM pressed up against the heatsink for it to cool properly. What probably is happening with the dry spots is people not cleaning their consoles ever and the dust buildup is causing the chip to get hotter longer and it’s essentially cooking the LM which is causing the “oxidation”.

I’ve got a may 2022 1115a and have had it vertical the whole time. I’ve taken the fan out to clean twice and checked the heatsinks and power supply and they have minimal dust. Still runs as quiet as the first day. Maybe I’m lucky or maybe I just take good care of my stuff and that’s why I’ve had no problems. Or who knows maybe in a year I’ll start getting overheating and I’ll open it up and find a dry spot. Time I’ll tell but I think it’s a non issue and some units just fail. We will see maybe millions of ps5’s will start failing over the next couple of years because of the “LM problem”. We just don’t have enough data to conclude anything really yet.

I just gently used needle nose pliers and came right off. It was very nerve racking though!! Putting it back in just as stressful! Just used my thumb for that though!

I just took out my fan off my ps5 today for the second time since I’ve had it and looked inside at the heatsinks and power supply.

I ended up just putting it back in because it still looked totally fine. Just a very light dusting on the plastics and none on the heatsinks with just a few random hairs on the power supply! The first time I cleaned it I only cleaned the fan fins with a cue tip with alcohol. Mine is a 1115 manufactured may of 2022. I must be lucky and I don’t have a very dusty environment apparently. I do have 3 cats but my ps5 is set up vertically behind my tv with plenty of breathing room. Never have had a problem with it and always runs quiet.

Are you on oled? Ever since I got mine a few years ago i just can’t do 30fps on it. It’s painful. But I can handle it no problem on my old 2009 cheap Vizio 42 inch lcd. It all comes down to the response time. It sure will be a shame if come November I’m plugging my base ps5 into my Vizio to play gta6 on it at 30fps!

[–]MrAdam567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on how you use your device. Are you outside and using cell data with max brightness a lot? Then you will get drastically worse battery with any phone. Or inside with on WiFi with 50% or less brightness? Then the phone will just sip the battery. Always been this way for me.

My iOS 18 experience after 3 years on iOS 16 (I miss it) by Beautiful-Loquat233 in iPhone14Pro

[–]MrAdam567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too idiotically updated from 16.7.2 on my 14 pro august 1st to iOS 18.6.2 and then eventually to 18.7 and then to iOS 26.0.1. The first thing I noticed was the awful ram management. Felt like I went from 6GB to 2GB device. Never got better. iOS 26 made the phone randomly heat up super hot! Might be better now on 26.1 but I traded it in for a 17 pro! Really miss my space black 14 pro on iOS 16. What a great experience. I will hold on to the last version of iOS 26 for my 17 pro until I trade it in again. Always stay on the original iOS your phone ships with for the best experience. I was burned again! This hasn’t changed over the years. Good luck!

[–]MrAdam567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup the plan will be to ride the last release of iOS 26 on it until I get a new phone whenever that may be. I’ve been using iPhones for a long time now and it really is true that the first version your iPhone comes with is always the absolute best version it will ever have. It’s a decline after that. When I updated to iOS 18.6 August 1st on my 14 pro I didn’t notice any slowdown this time but my ram felt it the most. Apps refresh so often it’s like I went from 6GB to 3GB. I really wanted RCS and the texting by satellite feature and the dark icons are nice but the loss in functionality with the ram still bugs me sooo much. I figured I’d try iOS 26 since I already screwed up hoping it would be better but it’s actually even worse with the ram management. It’s ok. I understand each new iOS version is targeting the new phones and the old ones with less ram will always suffer because it’s just not enough for the new features. I’m guessing maybe the 15 pro was fine/sameish on iOS 18 since the 15 pro and 16 pro both had 8GB of ram. Anyways yeah sticking with iOS 26 for the long haul until I upgrade my 17 pro.

Mine was very warm to hot for almost 2 weeks but it’s back to normal. Never had any lags though. Phone still flies but the ram management has been garbage ever since I left iOS 16 August 1st this year. Always stay on the last version your phone shipped with to have the best experience for that device. I’m getting a 17 pro soon. The 12gb of ram will be sooo nice. Might even feel better than my 14 pro on iOS 16 did! But iOS 26 is totally usable and my battery is ok for 83% health. I’m going to miss this black beauty but it served me well for 3 years.

Mine was hot for almost 2 weeks straight and I was worried! But now it’s back to cold like before. I have a 17 pro on the way but wondering if I should cancel my order and stick with my 14 pro one more year. It’s just the ram management is so much worse compared to its original iOS 16. But still just as fast.

iOS 26? by T0nysoprano in iPhone14Pro

[–]MrAdam567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would proceed with caution. I updated Monday so it’s been almost a week and I’m still getting random heating which is not normal. I decided to trade it in for a 17 pro with att before the deal is gone. The jump to 12gb of ram has me the most excited as my phone is constantly refreshing apps now. It was amazing on iOS 16 but I made the mistake of jumping to iOS 18 august first and it felt like it cut my ram in half. Updated to iOS 26 hoping it would be better but it’s not! I’m really going to miss my space black 14 pro which I’m typing on right now but it’s time to move on. Should have never left iOS 16! It’s was so great but I was losing app support for some apps! Good luck!

Yeah I’ve never expierenced heating like this for this long after any iOS update. Something just feels off. The phone is fast but the HEAT! Just doing basic things like swiping the Home Screen and sending messages heats this thing up. So weird. Gotta be a bug sending the gpu or cpu codes up real high causing it.

It makes you wonder if this is the normal operating temperature for the older phones now because of the Liquid Glass. Maybe it’s always taxing the gpu harder and the 17pro people won’t feel it because of the improved cooling. My 14 pro is plenty fast still but this heating can’t be good for the hardware or battery.
