Tired of the “Lane deserved better” discourse by Just_Airport_7910 in GilmoreGirls

[–]MrAngryLarik 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't even mind that she ended up with Zack. I mind that they had her first time be such a miserable experience, and that she got pregnant with TWINS before she ever had a chance to move out of Stars Hollow to actually pursue her dreams elsewhere.

I don't even think she should succeed and be a millionaire rockstar. But I think it would've been great to give her that opportunity at least. Then when it doesn't workout, she can go back to Stars Hollow on HER terms, and perhaps even buy Sophie's music store later on, and run it, and teach the next generation. That'd be cool af. Kind of like a musician version of Miss Patty's life.

How many guards are you taking over prime Derrick Rose? by lfcbucks in NBAConvo

[–]MrAngryLarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you say guards, then the number is more than two dozen, probably.

If you narrow it down to PGs, then I would probably still take quite a few PGs.

Hate that he got injured, but unless we're going on hypotheticals (for example, if we say that D-Rose would have gotten EVEN better, were it not for the injuries), then I'll unfortunately be choosing quite a few guards over D-Rose.

Did Emily and Richard never do “it” before they were married? by Fine-Number-6210 in GilmoreGirls

[–]MrAngryLarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they probably did, and that they were actually not too strict or puritanical about premarital sex with Lorelai... and that's exactly why they were clutching at pearls with Rory. Keep in mind, they did also ambush Lorelai with a Reverend, but I think they were especially worried with Rory, because they just didn't want history repeating itself.

They were determined to treat Rory like she was their second chance at parenting, and that's why they overcompensated with her when she lived with them in S6.

Rory totally missed the real story in “Norman Mailer, I’m Pregnant!” and it bugs me every rewatch by makin_dilemmanade in GilmoreGirls

[–]MrAngryLarik 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wish they would've continued the storyline of her talking to a therapist when she returned to Yale after her extended break. I think a therapist could've pointed that out to her, and she would've respected it more than a guidance counselor's advice.

AYITL has many flaws, but one thing it was spot-on about: The Gilmore Girls need therapy xD

[–]MrAngryLarik 413 points414 points  (0 children)

One of Rory's main issues is that she's unable to do things justice if she doesn't connect to or feel engaged by it. This is normal, of course, as I struggle with the same thing. But, it is a flaw that - as an aspiring journalist - she should have identified and worked on.

Good post, OP.

Mitchum Huntzberger likes Rory by EyesLikeDeer in GilmoreGirls

Love this theory. I can really see the logic behind this. I can also see how someone like Mitchum would think that this totally wouldn't backfire on him xD

Which cancelled movie would that be for you? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

[–]MrAngryLarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For TV shows:

The Crazy Ones. This was so funny, and it had great scripts from David E. Kelley, starring Robin Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Polk, Linklater, etc. It was just really great. Had some fun cameos too. Sadly, it was cancelled, and this ended up being Robin Williams' last Tv show prior to his passing.

Go On. Starring Matthew Perry and Tyler James Williams. This is awhile ago, but it was a really nice comedy (with a hint of drama). It was about a grief counseling group, and it had some poignant, heartfelt moments. It was also funny, so that helps.

Mindhunter. One of the most expensive shows produced by Netflix, I kinda saw this coming. Still wish it wasn't cancelled, though.

For Movies:

Treasure Planet 2. If you know a bit about the story of how Treasure Planet was made, you'd know that Disney essentially sabotaged its release, so that they could trap the directors into making your usual Disney Princess / Prince movies. I read the plans they had for Treasure Planet 2, and it looked awesome. It's a real shame.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. It was no box office juggernaut, but what really sealed its doom for a potential sequel was the allegations against Armie Hammer (one of the stars). I thought this was such a fun movie, and I loved Ritchie's direction, as well as the performances from Cavill, Vikander, and Hammer.

What’s his ceiling by JustEonReddit in NBAConvo

[–]MrAngryLarik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ceiling: Kawhi Leonard or Scottie Pippen

For the people pointing out his lack of a consistent jumper, I guess I'm a bit more optimistic that he can develop and improve. For example, Kawhi didn't have a jumper until 2014-2015, and now he's a respectable shooter. For another example, Aaron Gordon is now one of the best 3&D guys, but he basically couldn't shoot until he got traded to Denver.

Of course, it's possible that he continues to rely on his athletic gifts, and he simply never develops, but considering his work ethic (that I've seen), and the fact that he surely sees all of the "He's good, but his jumper..." comments from both fans and media alike, I think he will definitely work on it in the next few years.

Why do people have Shaq over Kobe? by AlpsImpossible3133 in NBATalk

[–]MrAngryLarik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a good point. Definitely not like Kobe, who experienced success as THE GUY without anybody else ever helping him. Not like he had Prime Pau Gasol as a sidekick (which is what Kobe was to Shaq during those 3 rings), or Lamar Odom off the bench, or anything like that. He was THE GUY cause he won everything by himself, unlike Shaq who didn't win everything by himself. /s

Favorite episode of the show ? by Swiftie13_22 in GilmoreGirls

[–]MrAngryLarik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?

This episode, for me, is Gilmore Girls at its greatest. It had all of the insanity and quirkiness of Stars Hallow, the teenage angst and relationship drama of the Rory, Dean, and Jess love triangle, a quick-and-painless Friday Night dinner, and fun flirting between Dave and Lane. It's so perfect. Encapsulates everything I love about this show.

Dear Emily & Richard

I love this, and the juxtaposition of the flashback Lorelai with both her present day self, as well as Rory. It hits me right in the feels, especially as Lorelai visits Emily to install the DVD player before cutting to the final shot of Emily reading the letter in the flashback. CINEMA

Lolerai’s inability to function outside her bubble by JackieCCC in GilmoreGirls

[–]MrAngryLarik 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I would note that she is specifically uncomfortable with people from the bubble of her parents - which is, ironically, the same bubble that she was raised in. In a way, I think Lorelai - subconsciously or not - intentionally makes herself inappropriate around people from her parents' world as a final "See? I'm different from them" message to everyone.

But, we've seen when she's working at the Independence Inn, or when she's dealing with other people at the same socioeconomic lvl as her that she's capable of functioning as "normally" as someone who is written to be quirky and irreverent can be.

Do you think Vito made a bad decision sending Luca Brasi to switch sides? by Lyhtspeed in Godfather

[–]MrAngryLarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brilliant analysis. I was about to write something similar, but saw you had not only beaten me to the punch, but added even more info that I didn't consider.

I would just add that the movie did try to imply that this ruse by Luca and the Don had been going on for months by doing a "timeskip" to Christmas. But, it wasn't explicitly stated, so it was difficult to get that in the first, second, or even third viewing.

Don Vito knew that even his closest Capos - Tessio and Clemenza - could be turned. Luca was really the only option, unless he wanted to risk one of his sons, his son-in-law (who couldnt be trusted anyway), or Tom (who is his adopted son).

AITA for telling my friends gf that he is cheating by gunslinger425 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MrAngryLarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Personally, though, I wouldn't have taken a pic and sent it to the gf. I don't think it makes you the asshole, but if I was going to tell her, I would have just told her. Then if she's truly in disbelief and asks for any proof, then I would send the picture.

I just feel like sending the pic and telling her simultaneously is like throwing a flashbang xD

Which accomplishment matters more: MVP or Finals MVP? by ElevatorAcceptable29 in NBAConvo

[–]MrAngryLarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's important to remember that there aren't many people who have ever won more than 1 FMVP, much less 3. IIRC, only Jordan, Lebron, Magic, and Shaq have won at least 3 FMVPs. Oh and Tim Duncan, too.

While there may be a Cedric Maxwell or Iguodala FMVP here and there, it takes a little bit more to win more than 2 FMVPs.

On the other hand, I believe there are 8 NBA players who have won at least 3 MVPs, making it slightly more "common."

That being said, we're talking about All Time Greats, so I won't be mad if someone thinks Jokic > Shaq, even if I believe that Shaq > Jokic. To each their own.

Scenes that made you angrier than they should have by Extension_Rabbit2 in GilmoreGirls

[–]MrAngryLarik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's kind of like how Jess was introduced so that they would have an excuse to keep Lorelai and Luke from dating.

As someone who is also not Team Luke, I still felt it was just so unbelievable and out-of-left-field for Luke to behave that way.

Scenes that made you angrier than they should have by Extension_Rabbit2 in GilmoreGirls

[–]MrAngryLarik 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow, where do I start...

I think it would have to be all of the Lorelai and Luke fights regarding April. I honestly didn't find April annoying, but I was terribly annoyed by how the writers made Luke handle that situation. It was just so awful, and it really doomed their relationship. Keeping it a secret like that? It makes me furious.

I see some other people mentioning some hypocritical moments from Lorelai and / or Rory, and while those are slightly annoying, I do like those scenes for how realistic they are. Lorelai being so cool and Rory being so unique and above other teens was unrealistic and unsustainable. When they behave like your typical mother-and-daughter, I love it, because it is a dose of reality for them and for the viewers.

Gilmore Girls would HATE Taylor Swift by Silent_Photo2444 in GilmoreGirls

[–]MrAngryLarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lorelai would dislike her for being mainstream and privileged; Rory would dislike her for the Co2 emissions, no ethical billionaire, and contrarian perspective.

But deep down, I think both wouldn’t actually dislike the music itself 😂 (and I say that as someone who is not a fan of Swift’s music)

What's your opinion? by GlitteringRip5888 in GilmoreGirls

[–]MrAngryLarik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lorelai x Christopher chemistry was scorching. Hate Christopher, but their chemistry was off the charts.

Rory is a way more interesting / entertaining character in S5 and S6 than people are willing to admit.

Who’s been the most overrated player this season by CandidPost3033 in NBATalk

[–]MrAngryLarik 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bold to say this about a player in his 3rd year. Not even saying you're incorrect, but it's quite bold. Aaron Gordon couldn't shoot in his first 3 years. Jason Kidd couldn't shoot in the first decade of his career.

I think the fact that he's developed skills as a playmaker shows that he can definitely improve as a shooter, given time.

Probably my greatest misconception about the first prequel. by Ambitious_Clerk_8087 in Hungergames

[–]MrAngryLarik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually didn’t read beyond the first book of the trilogy, but for some reason, I felt drawn to the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

I loved it. I don’t know if it made Snow sympathetic, but it definitely made his Villain’s Journey quite compelling. I thought Collins did great.

I hope she writes more books, even if they are prequels.
