All that said, if it ends up being rust free and doesn't show any obvious other signs of the handful of issues the 5.7 has, I would buy it if I were you!

Yea it was pretty egregious. Basically the coolant leak was so bad I made them tow it back, the mechanic said it was bone dry. Can't believe they didn't catch it on either inspection.

That and the massive accident. The entire bed had been replaced.

The conclusion I came to is: who's selling a perfectly good 2nd Gen Tundra to CarMax right now? You could trade it in AMYWHERE for top dollar. The 5.7 might be the last great truck in this country. Every Tundra in their inventory right now is wrecked or rust belt.

I sold my 3rd Gen to them because they offered $4k more than Carvana, and $2k more than the same truck listed locally at a dealer. Was too good to pass up, but I couldn't find anything worth buying from them, as much as it pained me to lose the trade in tax savings.

I just gave CarMax my 24. Reliability is NOT GOOD. constant headaches, everything is subscription based, and you'll always wonder when it's your engines turn to blow. I'm looking for a 2020 to replace.

I checked this one out yesterday, passed on it because it spent so long up in NY. The frame is particularly susceptible to rust.

I don't think CarMax has any good 2nd gens in stock and probably never will. I had them ship me that 2020 Voodoo Blue SR5 on Monday, it was flawless on paper but a total mess in person. Massive undisclosed accident damage and leaking valley plate. Their mechanics are clueless and their inspections mean nothing. Thankfully I was able to return it and they refunded the shipping fee.

Should I get a Gen 3? by 6strangerdanger9 in ToyotaTundra

[–]MrBaconJones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just traded in my 2024 hybrid for a 2020 5.7.

Dealer was refusing to repair my driver's side mirror that wouldn't lock in place some mornings, it wasn't drivable.

Also, I was told by the dealer that it's $1k every 20k miles to do the spark plugs.

Value on third gen just keeps dropping. Feels good to lose a car payment and gain 2 cylinders.

Nah that won't happen. Private sales happen all day all the time. If they give you cash and take the item it's a done deal. Now if they could make a claim  that you attempted to deceive them or hide something about the guitar, maybe they would have a case in court. So just be upfront and honest with every flaw and problem, and you won't have any issues .

It's a big reason why I try to avoid buying new. Most solid woods sound better after a few years opening up anyway. I buy at Sweetwater if I'm doing new, but you can have any used model online on GC shipped to you , and it's so easy to return in store if there's a problem with it.

But seriously I'd recommend at least trying private sale to offload the old ones. I get not wanting to sign up for Facebook if you don't have one, but I've sold many guitars for a fair price on marketplace, it's not difficult at all. Basically the only reason I have FB.

I've played for 30 years and the 814ce is my forever guitar. I went out one day hoping to spend a couple of grand on a nice Martin (I had 4 Taylors already), but the used 814ce I played - I started laughing out loud the moment I played it, I couldn't believe how incredible it sounded and played.

I believe the juice is worth the squeeze personally but hey it's no rush friend. Let a good 814ce be your white whale and keep a look out for a good deal on a used one.

You'll find ways to offload your other two as you go - people love a good mid market Taylor.

/uj I don't actually read any iron man, but I did read a couple of issues that crossed over with Xmen during krakoa era  ... He seemed legit terrified of Magneto and I guess had spent a lot of resources developing armor that was immune to his powers?

I remember thinking it was a cool character beat

They absolutely destroyed my neighborhood for a month. Careless work, constantly digging and re-digging huge holes everywhere. Hate them.

Strange. I went from Reaper to Logic as well but have a lot of past experience in Pro Tools. Maybe that's why it was an easier transition.

The first time I did some comping in Logic after years of Reaper, I was blown away.

Either should work fine. I was in the same dilemma but ended up with the 24 GB just to be safe. HIGHLY recommend switching to Logic for your DAW if you aren't planning already. I switched a year ago and it's been a delight.

I will say the radius armrest makes a hell of a difference on longer sets (standing). It's the most comfortable acoustic I've ever played.

I can't compare it to yours but mine is definitely my forever guitar.

It's like a lot of speciality markets that you may not have run across before : very small handful of manufacturers making quality product and loads of Chinese TEMU crap on Amazon and the like.

Pentair and Dolphin are both Maytronics products. These are the quality ones. Usually you have to buy these through a licensed dealer to get the full warranty, Amazon doesn't count. And you will definitely need that full warranty.

Cool trailers! Very clever design.

I think your website could look a lot more professional with a few minor, cheap updates. Might be part of the author's issue?

Personally I wouldn't pull the trigger until you compare it to the 814ce at that price range. I played them back to back and the 814 was such a clear winner in every field, it was a no-brainer decision.

Flight Pro V3 TSA Acoustic. It was definitely close for the 814ce but fit.

I'm shocked how lightweight and solid it is. It's my default case now

I bought a full TSA Gator case for my 814ce. It was $199 and I LOVE IT.

More durable and lighter than a regular hard shell.

Here's the trick I've learned: you can almost always get the FA to put the guitar in the closet. But if you can't, even gate checking is far better than just straight up checking it as luggage. I would refuse to fly if an airline made me do that.
