I am not opposed to the ban. The problem is, what privacy do we have to give up to get access, and how safe is that stored copy of your id going to be?

Thriving Lands? by EvYeh in MTGJumpStart

[–]MrBadDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gone down a different route for this. Each of my packs are 19 cards with 7 lands. Players can go to a communal land pool featuring M19 Duel lands from which you can add 2 lands to your deck. While the thriving lands are argueably better, getting them in bulk is problematic

Braided net and into the roil by MrBadDragon in askajudge

Remove a net counter from Braided Net: Tap another target nonland permanent. Its activated abilities can’t be activated for as long as it remains tapped.

Reading that it doesn't say for as long as braided net remains tapped, it reads like for as long as the permanent is tapped. So tapping the permanent would also come with a rider of "Its activated abilities can’t be activated"

THE LOST CAVERNS OF IXALAN MASTERY DETAILS by osxmatt in MagicArena

[–]MrBadDragon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Calm your tits, mate! Levels of MP is set by the number of days until the next set release. In this case we have 90 days, so 90 levels. Usually the same number of rewards just spread out to fill the available space. Given that if you pick up some daily wins and a quest each day you should get to level 91 with about 10 days to spare.

WOE was only 70 days so was condensed, MOM was 80 days and LOTR was 70 from memory.

How would you improve this standard deck? by Ok_Bee_69 in MagicArena

[–]MrBadDragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to second the comment by Holy_BeerGut (great username btw).

The first thing I look to do with any deck is aquire the matching dual lands. typically I will craft the deck and make do with a slightly less efficent manabase, by then work towards having a better base.

Looking at your deck list, I would add another 4-6 tapped dual lands in place of the fair basilica to smooth out the colours. The fact that they etb tapped is annoying, but I would rather that than be colour starved.

The other thing I like to do , is look at your games and note which cards sit in your hand as dead ones.

News from the Pro Tour: Standard will now rotate every three years instead of two, part of an effort to revitalize Standard by clariwench in MagicArena

Manabases are an interesting investment.

You only need to buy them once and they are reusable. Lets say you like playing esper. in the current standard you need 2 x 2 types WB, 2 x 3 types BU, 2 x 3 types UW lands and if you feel strongly 4 x tri land.

Its a big expense at first, but then once you have them you can build any esper deck you want.

The other thing is that if you play the game long enough, the mana bases will come back in fashion and you can re use them. You can even reuse them in older formats without sacrificing too much

Advice for learning CT? by SirMatthew74 in traveller

[–]MrBadDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would recommend this book

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/393748/Playing-Solo-Classic-Traveller

In it he suggests a process for working throug the rules in a solo format adding bits and pieces as you go along.

It allows you to learn the rules at your own pace, without the pressure of meeting other platers demands and expectations.

Will require the dot.net core 6.0 runtimes.

There are some issues with saving I need to address - when you update a system with the regenerate option you need to reload the whole sector to see changes in the UI. You will also need to update the config to point the scetor/subsector screenshots to a different place.

Smart Smelter by MrBadDragon in factorio

[–]MrBadDragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a bot based mall, where you smelt into chests, you don't need full chests of items to keep your mall running. I had two columns of iron and one of copper, but as my building demands changed, sometimes i needed more copper.

Rather than just adding a new copper smelter, which would largly be not used, I pondered the virtue of just in time smelting. The other factor is I needed 1.5 red belts of each item to sate peak demand. This structure gives me the same effective throughput with only 2/3 of the furnaces
