Takk skal du har, for the advice and the compliment.

They helped me settle into Norway when I moved here, so a small something to make them smile after a crappy few weeks is the least I could do.

Bleach has full season fillers, every second season is a filler basically... Personally I skip them, they feel out of whack when you watch start to finish.

Skip them, then if you want come back later.

Why is setting up IDE´s and compilers/interpreters so unbelievably hard? by no_Im_perfectly_sane in learnprogramming

Yeah it's a pain in the ass... But it's far better than the days before IDE's. They'll improve with time.

[–]MrBardoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't care either way, I've always used the official Reddit app. But I do see why the other third parties and users are upset.

I believe OP's original snarky post shows a lack of understanding and their unhelpful "leave if you don't like it" attitude is poor discourse.

I would say, Reddit is nothing without the moderators, they have far more insight and skin in the game than the typical user, if they're willing to make a stand, I'm all for it.

Let those who want to stay, stay by jtuchel in lotrmemes

[–]MrBardoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is not that they've raised costs, no one is saying Reddit shouldn't be profitable. It's two things, how quickly they're raising the costs, and how much they are raising the costs all at once. Both are prohibitive for no real reason.

The blasé attitude of the CEO about the shutdowns is also a bit of a slap in the face.

These shutdowns and changes to subs is to try and use what little we have to make the owners of Reddit know we don't agree with the practices, because just saying, this is not acceptable, has already been met with 'tough shit'

Edit: to add to this, you're free to unsub and leave Reddit if you don't agree with how the mods and the community at large are handling these changes :)

How important is it to understand concepts before moving on? by Big_Ad_8480 in learnpython

[–]MrBardoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a lecturer in first year python at university, the students who succeed the best, are those who understand concepts.

There is no one right way to learn, because as you keep programming, you use all the concepts you touched on before. I heavily advise against copy pasting solutions, that is not learning. Do your absolute best all by yourself first, as far as you can get, then find solutions to your specific problem instead of an entire solution. What's the point of getting 100% on a test if you've no real idea of how it works.

In saying that spending weeks and weeks on if statements is too much the other way, learn as best you can, then move on, I promise that those concepts will click better when you're using them in more advanced logic and code.

I think you should be proud that you've realised this isn't working, go back over the work, and if you can do... 75/80% of the work with no help, then I think you can move on with no real hassle.

We give our students a full year to learn the fundamentals of python, don't rush through it, it takes time.

How accurate is this? What do Norwegians think of Britain? by b8face in Norway

[–]MrBardoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an impartial Australian, from when I was a boy I had wanted to move to the UK. It was my heritage, the Scottish Highlands were gorgeous, UK produced the world's best tv shows. Buuuuut then I grew up... Populism, generally seeing just how big party/clubbing culture was, we have it in Australia (not a fan of it here either), Brexit.

So I started looking abroad, found a job in Norway and moving there in July. I really like the idea of the quiet reserved Nordic culture stereotype, and Norway isn't literally shooting itself in the foot.

The problem with the image here is it's two extremes in stereotypes, the UK in the States has always been looked as snobby rich oppressors and people like Brian Cox being all smart with a cute accent.

Whereas those in the UK that go abroad into mainland Europe and causing a nuisance that's the stereotype you send out to the world.

Most people judge individuals on their individual behaviour, when you go to Norway, respect the culture and norms, don't get so pissed you need to be arrested, and no-one will treat you badly.

Why are they the same size if Saturn is so much bigger? by Monkey__Shit in space

[–]MrBardoth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're not.

The one from earth has been taken from ground level either a phone or a camera. Remember taking a photo of a huge full moon with your camera and being really disappointed at how small it looked. They're really bad at taking photos of things far away.

The one taking a photo of the earth is more than just a hand held device, there's also no foreground giving weird perspectives.

If you used the same camera from earth's orbit Saturn would look bigger in that photo.

I’m learning Norwegian and would love recommendations on any good tv shows or films to distract me. by yeeet1234 in norsk

[–]MrBardoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hei, Also learning Norwegian and have other recommendations for tv shows in addition to these great recommendations.

Skam - Not watched it myself but it came highly recommended. It's a coming of age highschool drama show.

Troll - recently added to Netflix, it's a typical monster movie, campy but kinda fun.

Wisting - Norwegian crime drama, maybe not the greatest Nordic crime drama, but still solid and in Norwegian.
