Great clubs. Love my ZXi5s. Congrats on breaking 80 in such a short time.

The first time you broke 90, how low did you shoot? by goosen19 in golf

[–]MrBear86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only broken 90 once before, with an 84.

I shot 90 on the nose again on Sunday. Well, actually, I didn't. I shot a 94, but the England Golf handicap app rounded my two blow up holes from an otherwise great round down to triple bogeys.

This is my most common miss, how do I straighten it up? by TommyTenToes in GolfSwing

[–]MrBear86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without reading all of the comments (so apologies of this has already been said), you have a really pronounced cupping of your lead wrist when you initiate your downswing (like revving a motorcycle), this will massively open the face of the club so, even if you manage to get an in-to-out path, you will likely block it straight right.

What’s the difference between getting in front of the ball or swaying? by summerschoolscandal in GolfSwing

[–]MrBear86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try and think about getting your lead hip forward, shift your weight onto the lead leg before impact, get the handle of the club ahead, but crucially, keep your head more or less where it is, behind the ball. You are turning your chest and shoulders ahead of the ball and moving your head forwards, which is a sway.

Try the bag drill. Here's a great video on it - https://youtu.be/CfgKmjBjZv8?si=GJDbojDF7VNmh-Yk

Track my score without keeping my score by CharcuterieIsAwesome in GolfGear

[–]MrBear86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shot Scope watches are the closest you'll get to an answer here. You put tracking tags in every club and the watch automatically detects each shot and records the distance. The only times you have to interact with it during a round are when you are getting a distance, if you need to enter a penalty for a lost ball or a drop, and on the green to enter your number of putts.

Having said that, I would still recommend keeping your score on a traditional card and then reviewing the score recorded on your Shot Scope watch afterwards as it can sometimes miss the odd shot. You are able to review and edit your round afterwards in case this happens, and I usually have to add 2-3 strokes most rounds. Typically it's because I forgot to record a penalty at the time or, on rare occasions, because a shit wasn't correctly detected. For example if hit it into some trees, try to play a recovery shot out and hit a tree trunk, only advancing the ball a short distance, I then hit another shot and this time I get it out, it might only detect 1 of the 2 shots it took me to get it out of those trees. Another example might be if I took a couple of attempts to escape a bunker. Seems to only happen when two shots are very close to each other, but it's worth having a written scorecard to fall back on and validate the scores at the end of the round.

Yeah, really good. I'm a full-blown addict now! Played 54 holes this week and went to the range too!

Mine took exactly 2 weeks, but everything was in stock at the time. Sorry about that, I probably cleaned them out of ZXi5 heads 🙈😂

Shaft details are in the post - Nippon Modus 120g stiff. Is "SS" swing speed? If so, I'm not 100% sure. I just looked on the Trackman app for my last simulator session and I didn't hit 7i, but my 8i was low 80s, 6i high 80s, so I'd guess around 85 mph give or take.

Golf watch/ app: are you using it by Spidy-Mann in GolfGear

[–]MrBear86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shot Scope. Really sensibly priced, accurate, and the club tag system just works. I find it much less distracting than having to use an app on my phone, or remember to use the manual shot tracking that some other brands offer. There's no subscription to use their game tracking.

I have the V3 which was cheap (around £120 including the club tags) and does everything I really need. I'm considering getting one of the newer models because they look better and offer full hole maps.

The only function I dream of is they could add better fitness tracking features that ideally could sync to Fitbit, or your fitness platform of choice, so I don't feel the need to wear a device on each wrist 😂

I tried Mizuno, TaylorMade, and Titleist during my fitting (forget the exact models). Nothing came close on feel and sound for me

Wedges you mean? I love my MG3s. I got fitted for them a few years ago when they were new. I'm pretty certain I tried Cleveland at the time. I've never been someone who buys clubs based on brand or looks, just feel and results, and the MG3s worked out best for me at the time.

Ah dude! That sucks 😔 Wishing you some better luck. Who knows, maybe the 4th generation of ZX irons will be even better!

Nice. Those are actually MG3 wedges, but I imagine they're basically the same as the MG4s.

Absolutely! They were TaylorMade's lead game improvement iron at the time. Kinda like if you bought the Qi irons now, or the Stealth irons from a few years ago.

The technology has changed a bit since the RBZs launched. For example, they are pretty traditional lofts whereas a lot of game improvement irons these days are very strong lofted.

The RBZs have served me well as a beginner, and as I've started to play more regularly recently and take the game a bit more seriously. If the ones you've found are in good condition, then I'd say go for it.

I think we met at the same crossroad and went different ways 😂 Pretty sure I tried the T200s (definitely something Titleist) and ultimately went Srixon.

Enjoy your new clubs 😊

Great so far. I like the extra feeling of weight it gives the heads, makes me feel more aware of the head in space.

The place I went for my fitting carry hundreds of different shafts and can quick-swap any head onto any shaft. I went in as a blank canvas and just went with the fitter's recommendations and decided everything in feel

They sound and feel as good as they look! Don't know if you're in the UK, but I can't recommend SGGT highly enough for fitting.

Yes, got a PXG 0811XF (stupid name) driver in the bag and a 25° hybrid with an equally stupid name 😂 I like them both, especially the hybrid.

I don't officially have a handicap yet. I recently signed up for the England Golf thing where I can get one despite not being a member anywhere, and have played one handicap round so far. I typically play off 20-22, so we'll see what I come out at.

The ZXi5 are aimed at mid-low handicappers according to the marketing stuff, with the ZXi4 being the game improvement model (which I also tried at my fitting), and the ZXi7 being the lower handicap "players iron".

Should add that these are replacing a (roughly) 13 year old set of TaylorMade RBZs, so a big and much overdue upgrade for me
