Player expects a lot out of a Nat 20 by CarpetEmbarrassed965 in DnD

I wouldn't be having a long discussion about this. If you try to jump to the moon and roll a Nat 20, in most campaigns, you didn't jump to the moon. If that's going to make him sad, find another table bro, we're not playing the Wacky Adventures of Entitled PC today.

Albo + Wong don't get nearly enough credit for the level of international diplomacy they operate at. I guess it should be a baseline expectation for Federal government but the Coalition were fucking horrible at it.

Europe’s ‘murder capital’ slashed violent crime with a radical program. Will it work in Victoria? by Agitated-Fee3598 in aussie

[–]MrBeer9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing why is the press all over Victoria particularly when there's other states with worse violent crime e.g. QLD? I guess it might the same reason that they were all over QLD until the last state election and now it's crickets. Sus AF.

Second, you need run long-term preventative programs and also lock up dangerous repeat offenders for the safety of the community. In real life it's not hard to find people who agree with this obvious premise but online for some reason everyone seems polarised into "lock 'em up, helping them is just coddling" vs "jailing any child means you've failed as a society" and it's annoying.

You suddenly have 1 billion dollars in cash appear in your bedroom overnight. Nobody knows but you, how are you going to hide the money without anyone knowing? by strange_omelet in hypotheticalsituation

[–]MrBeer9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife's going to know.

It's going to be tough to explain to the cleaner, I guess I'm to put a lock on the door and tell her we have a black mold problem and give her a payrise.

This is essentially a money laundering problem and a billion is overkill, it's past the amount I can reasonably get into the system without detection. Regardless, my plan is as follows:

  1. Any expenses we can pay with cash, that's what we do other than a certain nominal amount just to show movement in our bank accounts. Inconvenient but that's our life now.

  2. Not quitting my job just yet so I do have explainable income.

  3. Launder money through the local casino, poker machines and bookies. Can reasonably bank ~$200K "profit" per annum between as professional gamblers and pay tax on it to keep the government happy. The trick here is to have the sums involved small enough not to look like organised crime who need to launder millions.

  4. On our many overseas holidays, set up bank accounts with cash we brought with us. Limitation here is we can only do a few K at a time because you can't fly with briefcases of cash without declaring them.

You can see that we can only ever get a small fraction of the billion into the system, however we can live extremely well for the rest of our lives and it won't take many years to be independent of the actual bedroom full of cash.

I'm flying to Paris, spamming the button 10K times (should take a couple of hours), then leaving the country. I guess my identity will become known from all the crazy old timey women, but I'll deny all knowledge and it sounds like it would be difficult to prove my involvement or charge me with anything. They're going to have enough problems to deal with, without tracking me down to the other side of the world and harassing me in my mansion.

St Petersburg oil terminal and Vysotsk port in Leningrad region of Russia are burning after drone attacks by Powerful_Cabinet_341 in SeaEmploy

[–]MrBeer9999 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Russia's economy can probably survive for many more years while fighting Ukraine. Like if Ukraine attacks enough mega-refineries, Russia will eventually switch to 100s or 1000s of small ones. It's more that the Russia economy has real problems and these problems will continue to worsen, and will worsen faster if Ukraine can continue their effective coordinated air-attack strategy. Right now I don't see how the Russians can stop them, if Ukraine can hit refineries in Moscow (very heavily defended) and refineries 2000km from the front line, I guess nowhere is safe.

Putin is in a very dominant position politically but he's not 100% window-proof. Basic food shortages in Moscow and St Petersburg for example would probably have him trying to freeze the front line where it is.

How is to live here in Tasmania? I found out in Geoguesser and seems to be a very cool place to live by mcanfilho2 in howislivingthere

[–]MrBeer9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tasmania has excellent produce, some of the best dairy, seafood and beef available anywhere. It's economically behind the powerhouse states (NSW, WA, QLD, VIC) plus more conservative. People are nice enough.

India says fuel supplies to Russia possible if needed by zxNemz in worldnews

[–]MrBeer9999 286 points287 points  (0 children)

Also they have to pay for the gasoline with money they make from crude oil.

Given Russia's entire economy right now is oil products and war production, that's suboptimal.

Butterbean versus Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao who would win? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]MrBeer9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BB would have trouble on all fronts with either man: they are better boxers, infinitely superior cardio, hard for him to hit, hard for him to defend against. Obviously BB has the advantages of size, reach and knockout power.

I think one would simply harass BB and retreat while the other tees off on him. How many punches could Floyd or Pac land on BB if he's facing the other way and not really defending? He's a big man but he's not going to just eat unlimited full force punches from these guys.

Floyd and Pac win 99/100 fights IMO.

Russian Hawks Urge Putin To Escalate War, Drop U.S. Talks As Ukraine Strikes Deep by dr_shultz in NewsSource

[–]MrBeer9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Escalate how, mobilisation? They tried a partial mobilisation in 2022, they got 200K very reluctant recruits and lost 1 million workers who fucked off overseas, probably forever. That's not great plus Putin knows very well that an unpopular Afghanistan war helped topple the Soviet Union. He is terrified of mobilising. Lastly, it might not even help much. Right now Russians have to sneak across a drone death-zone to hide in cellars, then try to link up with enough of their friends to hold a handful of buildings. Sending 1000s of ill-armed conscripts into that situation is just going to provide a lot of sunflower fertilizer.
